We are getting married in Bermuda next November. We’re considering Chaplin Bay for the ceremony and are looking for a nice restaurant to host a dinner. I’d love to hear from some Bermuda brides. I have lots of questions. Thanks in advance.

We are having our ceremony on one of the beaches on the south coast of bermuda, but we are arriving on a cruise, so we will have our reception back on the boat. We are just starting to work out the details about where but it will occur next july (2011). Have you contacted any wedding planners, Or do you plan to work with the event staff at the resort you choose? If you need recommendations about wedding planners, let me know, I have just started working with someone and she seems great so far. 🙂 Happy Planning and woo hoo, go Bermuda!

We have been working with Claire from Rose of Sharon. I think she phenomenal. She replies to my emails within a few hours and is very patient We are on a strict budget and she has been able to give us everything we want for within that budget. She is even throwing in the use of a moongate for free (rental fee is a little under $1000) because I told her we dont have room in our budget for decorations. I would definitely suggest her.

Hello there! My fiance and are I are considering Bermuda for our destination wedding as well. We had a fantastic vacation there last year before we were engaged, and would love to get married there. MissJenna, who are you using as your Bermuda coordinator? Being overseas makes me a little nervous about trying to plan it myself, so a good recommendation would be fantastic!
We loved the unfinished church in St. George’s, and might get married there.

@srast: We are using Nikki from Bermuda Bride…we have not really gotten started with a ton of planning , but in our initial conversations with her, she seemed very professional and organized! She made me feel like the planning process would be a breeze and all I needed to do was pick from different options and she would take care of everything else…which is exactly what I wanted! Thanks MissJenna! Fiance and I live in DC, so we’re just down the road from you in the US!
If we had gotten married in the US, I don’t think I would have gotten a wedding planner, but I think it’s a necessary expense when going for the overseas destination wedding.
I’m excited to get started–I’ve been looking at hotels for those that offer wedding accomodations and packages. Our date is off season–first week of March 2011 looks like our preference (March is a special month for us, but Lent starts on March 9th next year, and the Episcopal Church/Church of England won’t perform marriages during Lent), so hopefully we can negotiate some off-season discounts!

We’re getting married in Bermuda Sept 17. We’re also using Nikki at Bermuda Brides. So far, so good.
We were going to do a cruise, but then the itinerary changed and the ship had one less day in port. So, we decided to just fly down instead. A cruise would have been cheaper, but staying “on land” allowed more people to come (those that couldn’t take a whole week off for a cruise).
We’ve had some ups and downs with the planning-resort closed, small rate increase at new place, annoying future in laws, etc. But, i think in the end we’ll really be happy with our choice.
