@aurigarose:  I will be getting married in Kona this July aswell….I went there in the month of April and checked out vendors for several things (flowers, officiant, cake, reception location, caterer, Dj, hair/make-up)….I can’t say enough how helpful it was to go there in person and meet with vendors face to face.  It can be pricey but it is totally worth going there and meeting with them.

Vendors List for my wedding:

Flowers- Ilima Flowers http://www.ilimaflowers.com/

D.J.- Tiger Jones http://www.djkonadance.com/

Officiant- Aloha Ceremonies http://www.alohaceremonies.com/

Venue- Ohana Retreat http://www.ohanaretreat.com/

Wedding Day Coordinator-http://blissinbloom.com/

Ceremony Music- Still looking and open for suggestions

Cake- KTA supermarket or Safeway supermarket

Hope this list helps out brides looking to get married on the big island (Kona).

I’m getting married at the Mauna Lani on the Big Island in October! Smile

Most of our vendors are actually from Oahu. The Big Island has vendors but none in the style that I liked. The Oahu vendors often work with you on the travel cost.

The one vendor from the Big Island I’m using is hair & makeup with the Paul Brown salon.

Where on the Big Island are you getting married?

My sister is the #1 wedding planner on the Big Island. She is planning my wedding on the Kohala coast on 11-12-13.

I know how difficult is to find info on wedding on the Big Island, so here is my two cents for anyone who is looking for some recommendations:

photography: Karen Loundon, she has a great portofolio. You can look her up on the web.

makeup: lilikoi hair studio. Mara does hair and makeup. Both fabolous especially if you are looking for a natural look.

Royal Kona Resort: great venue and affordable.
