I did my own makeup, and I did like a full face look with no punches pulled- some contouring, fake lashes, all that stuff. I will say I wear makeup every day and I’m comfortable applying it, although this was more than I would normally wear.

I don’t regret it AT ALL but if you decide to go this route, I would suggest a few things:

– Practice practice practice! I practiced a few times and if I could do it again, I would have practiced more.

– Go to Sephore or MAC or Ulta and talk with consultants for anything you aren’t comfortable with- I went in to get foundation matched and to learn how to fill my brows properly

– Give yourself LOTS of time! I wish I had had more time the day of- I felt rushed and would have liked to sit back and enjoy it more (but putting on makeup relaxes me).

I did my own make-up and don’t regret it. When I had my makeup done as a bridesmaid for another wedding, I didn’t like it. My Maid/Matron of Honor was upset I was going to do my own but whatever! I had fake eyelash extentions (which is the only thing I regret) on my eyes so I didn’t have to apply mascara for my stag, wedding events and honeymoon. It turns out they were a little dark so in most of my photos where I’m laughing (which is about half the photos), you just see black for my eyes rather than my blue eyes. For the lipstick, check out Rouge Artist Natural N9 by Make Up For Ever. I usually look like a clown when I wear any shade of red but for some reason this one works.

Revlon Mauvy Night is a perfect light berry shade that looks really natural with 1 coat. I’m using this for my wedding because I am self-conscious wearing dark lip colors, even though I envy the look on others.

I did my own makeup since I’m good at doing it myself and already owned a lot of high end products. I don’t trust anyone else to do my makeup since there aren’t many professionals in my area who can do Asian makeup in a flattering way.

I don’t regret doing my own makeup at all. I researched new products I planned on using, bought them far in advance to test out, and even did a few trials leading up to the wedding so that I knew exactly what I was going to do. I took pictures inside and outside too to make sure everything looked fine. Practice, practice, practice and the day of it’ll be easy.

Also setting spray is amazing. Skindanavia makes a bridal one that I used and loved.

I did my own makeup and regret nothing. I also did my own makeup for my engagement shoot and loved how those pics turned out, so I didn’t see why wedding photos would be any different! I just went to Sephora and got some tips and some good, long-wearing makeup.

I’m planning to do my own makeup.  Makeup artistry is one of my hobbies and I have an extensive makeup collection, I will just buy a new lipstick for the wedding. I can do lashes, eye makeup, contouring and highlighting but it has taken a lot of practice to learn how to apply it properly.  I had my makeup done professionally for my 30th birthday.  It was nice but I don’t think it was any better than anything I can do.  Usually, I have to give the MUA a lot of direction about what looks good on me.  I’m Black and sometimes the foundation doesn’t look right, the shades are always off.

I watch a lot of makeup tutorials on youtube and I have been researching makeup looks on Pinterest. It will be nice to be able to save a little money since we have a small budget.  Only do it if you feel comfortable with makeup application and practice a lot!!!

I did my own hair and makeup for my engagement photos and plan on doing the same for my wedding day. I felt like I want to look like me on my wedding day. But I wear more makeup than the average person on the day to day basis. So if you’re confident in your abilities, why not save a couple hundred dollars.

CakeSniffer:  Haha, yes don’t go too crazy with the contouring.  Sometimes, just highlighting the nose, cheeks, chin and forehead gives enough of a contour, without doing dark contouring lines.  It sounds like you have everything under control.

CakeSniffer:  I’m not doing my own makeup, but I’m getting married in Atlantic City. I spent hours and hours searching for hair and makeup people because I was terrified of the “Jersey Shore” look, definitely not my thing.

If you practice and love how it comes out, then I say go for it…I ended up with a hair/makeup artist out of Philly and I’m having my trial in 2 weeks.  Here’s hoping I love it!

CakeSniffer:  Yep.  I do wish I would have re-applied as well but I was just too busy doing others things to care.  I def dont think it was enough to ruin my wedding or my photos.  I am almost thinking it was the colour as well.  I went with a really light pink with my blush baby.  I am thinking I could have went a darker shade which may have been helpful.  I def wouldnt hesistate to do my own makeup for special event again. I have not had much luck with someone else doing my make up!  the lady at sephora did a horrible job when i went in for a trial :s
