My fiance is from Trinidad and Tobago and we decided to get married in TT although we live in NYC right now. I was wondering if there are any brides from TT here or destination wedding brides to TT. We are thinking of getting married at the North Deck. Anyone get married here? Reviews? Vendor suggestions?
At first I thought getting married in TT would be awesome, I still think it is. . . but it is stressful. Number one, not meeting vendors and being able to see sample work is driving me crazy and TT is a little behind on the whole internet and email thing and it takes FOREVER to hear back from them. Also their wedding style seems to be stuck in 1985 with LOTS of tull and ivy, while nice for some, it just REALLY isn’t my taste. I am going for a more modern laidback, rustic, with vintage vibes sort of thing. Anyways any knowledge of wedding vendors there would be helpful.

Hi there….seems we are getting married on the same day in the same country..with the same general theme (rustic but elegant) .I would suggest you hit up facebook…hard..a lot of local vendors do not have full webpages..and find a good coordinator…I can PM you some names/vendors if you are still interested….

Hi, I saw your post and joined just so that i can reply. I am a bride and not only am I getting married in Trinidad, I live here. First off, congrats on your engagement.
As for planning in Trinidad, while some people are still in 1985, there are alot of people well into 2013, so don’t worry. I would recommed that you start of my visiting http://www.trinidadweddings.com. There is an extensive list of vendors there including a list of venues by geographical location. I am not having my wedding at North Deck, but I know of weddings that have been kept there. It’s basically a blank canvas and so you will be required to secure rentals i.e tables and chairs etc as well as your bar, caterer and decorator.
In case you are looking for a wedding co-ordinator, I would recommed Weddings With Flair, they have a page on facebook and do excellent work. They also provide catering, bar, decorative and general wedding planning services. They will be able to recommed locations and vendors outside of the list on trinidadweddings.com.
Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions or need any other advice.
P.S. I can also provide you with a list of Photographers if you will like.
