We have just returned home from honeymoon after our wedding in Cortona, Tuscany and we can honestly say that no words would do justice to our wedding planner Elia Moretti of Sposiamovi.it.  Absolutely nothing over the course of 12 months planning was ever a problem and he took our dream wedding and simply made it happen. We knew from the first time we met Elia and his beautiful wife Arianna that we had made the right choice because they had really listened to what we wanted and only brought us to see potential venues that ticked all our requirements, all of them beautiful! They did so much more than plan our wedding, they showed us the surrounding countryside, introduced us to their friends, took us out for dinner and even brought us to one of Arianna’s concerts – she is a fantastic singer with an amazing voice! We have had so much fun in their company. The service providers they introduced us to were, like them, so friendly, helpful and professional and we could not have been happier with the level of service provided in each case. We had the best 3 days of our lives that exceeded all of our expectations (and they were high!). We really cannot recommend Elia enough – for his professionalism, his attention to detail, his knowledge and his ability to find solutions to any potential problems. Aside from being brilliant planners, Elia and Arianna are fantastic people that we are lucky enough to now have as friends. If you are getting married in Tuscany/Umbria and are looking for a wedding planner….stop looking!!

We are getting married in Positano on the Amalfi coast in April.  We have a wedding coordinator and she has been a world of help- could not imagine doing this without her as she has wonderful relationships with people in Positano. She has worked on weddings all over Italy and so has our photographer.  I posted links below. Please let me know if you have other questions.

Don’t go for Tuscany, it’s so overpriced and IMO not any prettier than other parts of Italy. Most of Central Italy has beautiful countryside so you could have the same wedding for a much more sensible price if you looked at destinations in Le Marche, Emilia-Romagna or Umbria.

Le Marche is one of the best regions in Italy, IMO, and so overlooked. It has the miles of countryside and gorgeous little villages, but also Medieval towns, amazing beaches, and it’s within reasonable distance of any other cities and provinces you might want to visit, including Florence if you’re set on visiting there. And it’s CHEAP. It where Italians go when they want what we think of as a “Tuscan” experience, since expats and rich Italians have bought up all of Tuscany and charge extortionate prices for things that should be cheap.

@northsidebride:  Which planner did you work with? Also, do you have any recommendations on florists, make-up artists, and hair stylists? =)

Any info will be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

@mspinkelephant I’ve been chatting with Ilaria at Glam Events (http://www.glameventsintuscany.com) because I’m a wedding photographer and she seems like an awesome resource for wedding planning. Her website was pretty thorough and seemed to have a great lay of how things go down over there :). I have a few couples that have contacted me that I’m sending her way :). (My own info is: http://www.levitijerina.com). Good luck!

@MsGingerHoneycutever how is the planning going? Do you have a location and vendors yet? This sounds super exciting as my husband and I are also planning a vow renewal in Italy for our 15 year anniversary. I have been looking at villas to rent that we can have 20-25 people stay and just do the event there on property. I would prefer to save money so that I can bring a planner/florist, photographer and cinematographer with us. We didnt have the great photos I wanted at our wedding and no video… And we stressed and did it all our selves. It’s funny how you realize later that those things are important.

Hi Ladies!  I sure have some updating to do!  My Husband and I got married in October, in what was certainly the most beautiful wedding I’ve ever been to (thankfully).  I have to say we were so lucky to work with the best vendors we could have hoped for in the states, let alone Italy.  I’m an event planner, so my wedding planner deserves a special place in Heaven for not only putting up with my perfectionism but also nailing our vision.

I found a villa right outside of Florence that we rented for the week.  There were 16 of us total and we all stayed together and had the wedding on the winery the family owns about 300 yards away.  We never get to spend enough time with our loved ones anymore so this was the best decision we made.  The family that owns the villa is so wonderful that they came to make us a homemade spiced wine remedy for those of us with colds.  I’ll bullet point the rest!

Wedding Planner: Valentina Moneglia http://www.wedding-in-tuscany.com/

Venue: Villa Le Montanine http://www.lemontanine.com/

Villa Rental: Villa Poggio http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p12002

Caterer: Galateo Ricevimenti http://www.galateoricevimenti.com/site-eng/index.htm We will be talking about how unbelievably delicious the food was for the rest of our lives.  They also made our wedding cake in front of our guests which was a unique and special treat!

Ceremony Musicians: Gabrielle from http://www.almaproject.it/

Florist: Elena from Il Giardino delle Fate http://www.ilgiardinodellefate.it/en/#

Last but not least, our AMAZING photographers: Cristiano Brizzi & Lara Emme http://www.cristianobrizzi.net/ (As I’ve said before, my husband is also a photographer and he knew instantly that they were exceptional and much more affordable than they probably should be.  You will NOT regret hiring them!)

I’ll post some photos in my next post!  I hope this helps!

These are photos of the villa we rented as well as the winery we were married in.  I tried to pick the shots that give you a good idea of the quality of work from the vendors! If I’m missing something or there is something else you would like to see, please let me know and I’ll keep digging!

Thanks you  @SellyJo:  Are you still planning on Lake Orta?  We considered Lake Como but soon realized we could spend six weeks in Tuscany for what it would cost for one week in a lake house.  There were a couple places I really fell in love with in Lake Orta as well.  It’s hard to compete with the backdrop of the lake region!!
