Well I haven’t gotten around to ordering my cake yet.  But from what I remember from some of the bridal shows, as far as TASTE goes, I liked sugar and spice catering’s cake the best.  Did you go to any shows?  There is always lots of cake to sample!

@kes18:  I havne’t made it to any bridal shows yet. I’d love to experience one and taste all the cake. Do you know of any upcoming shows? I’m only in KC for a wee bit longer before I fly back to Australia.

@kcweddinggirl:  I think 10/21 is the next one.  It is a Perfect Wedding Guide show, at the Overland park Convention Center.  So that is still 3.5 weeks away!  I like using weddingwire.com though, I found a lot of helpful reviews for vendors on there!

Yay I am from KC too! Someone asked about a cake recommendation…we tried a cake from Sugar and Spice catering in Parkville, MO, and it was fantastic (we have booked them for catering and cake). Fiance hates dessert and he wouldn’t shut up about how good it was. My mom hates wedding cake and she practically licked her plate clean! And I love dessert and was very impressed. Would definitely recommend!!

Yep, I’ve never tried their food…but I think they had the best cake of anyone I remember trying.  So they stuck with me as far as cake goes.  I haven’t gotten around to the cake obviously, but I might have to go with them!

Their food is pretty decent. No better/worse than any other catering I tried, and we have tried a few. The cake is the most important part to me anyway because I am all about the dessert. Wink

The cake looks deceiving…when she brought out some slices for us to try (plain white buttercream and white wedding cake), I was expecting it to be boring. I am a chocolate girl through and through, and it almost looked like sponge or pound cake which = not appetizing to me.

The first bite changed my opinion very quick. Holy yum it was good.

@kes18:  Lets see…

Ceremony site: Country Club United Methodist (off of Wornall road, close to the Brookside area)

Officiant: Jenn Klein (personal friend, she is the pastor at our ceremony site and she is awesome!!!)

Reception: Studio B

Photgrapher: Jodi Vander Woude (Photo Studio B)

Florist: My brother’s friend who works for Studio Dan Meiners. He is going to use some of Dan’s things most likely, but he is a lot cheaper to work with!!

That is all I have so far! I have my dress and picked out Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses but haven’t seen them on any of the girls yet. What about you?

@Maggie89:

Nice!  I remember you were doing Studio B!

I have Dark Horse Distillery for both ceremony and reception.

Sarah Dickerson Photography is my photographer

I have my dress ordered.  I’ve looked at Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses online, and I have a list of the ones I really like.  So now, it’s just a matter of going in to have some of them try them on to decide.  But I wasn’t planning on doing that until maybe early next year.

I’ve been meeting with florists last week and this week, so hopefully I can get one of those nailed down next month.

I will probably do the DJ and officiant after I get through the florist!  But I still have just under a year left.

I’m really enjoying wedding planning!

@masterteee2013:  I’m getting my hair done at Crazy Blonde Salon located in Shawnee, KS (Next to Powerplay by Jennifer) She’s been doing my hair for a very long time and did my hair for all of high school dances and such.

My makeup will be done by a lovely friend who’s a make-up artist Ashley Nelson and she’s local in KC. ashleynelsonstudios.com she’s also on Facebook! 🙂 You won’t be disappointed if you book with her 🙂 She’s the greatest!!
