My wedding venue is very ornate (think white marble, powder blue walls and gold filigree everywhere – see below), so I’m starting to think I might steer clear of having a real color scheme. It feels like it would compete with the look of the ballroom, so maybe I should just stick with white and variations on gold/blue.

Is anyone else in this situation – where your color scheme has been decided by your venue? Would love to hear you decided to handle it!

Even if you only use one color, it’s still a color scheme technically, being monochromatic rather than a blend of colors. You can decorate any way you want though.

@Ember78: I suppose so! Was just curious if anyone’s venue had determined their lack of a traditional color scheme.
I feel like if we were getting married in a place that’s more of a blank canvas, it would make more sense to bring in a real color scheme (i.e. teal and chocolate or sherbet colors or what have you).

I think it’s beatiful and adding certain colors/decor would even be a distraction instead of an addition.
I didn’t really have a traditional “color scheme” either of picking 2-3 colors, I just did “tropical”, so I had all kinds of colors (green, blue, orange, pink, purple).

@abbyful: Love that! Tropical colors are some of my favorites. 🙂
