My bridesmaid didn’t have pierced ears. I didn’t have her wear earrings though….everybody else did, though.

Yes, one bridesmaid does not have pierced ears.  She wants to wear her hair down, so you wouldn’t see them, anyway.  So, we’re just doing necklaces!

I’m a bride who doesn’t have pierced ears and obviously not wearing earrings.  I think it’s kind of silly when people wear clip ons.  If I wanted to wear earrings I would have my ears pierced.  Your bridesmaid will probably feel the same way.

My Maid/Matron of Honor does not have pierced ears. I have to disagree with Ms. Smuttynose as to the reasoning though. I know that Maid/Matron of Honor likes to wear earrings and has tried to pierce her ears twice but they easily close and get infected so she stopped trying to pierce them because it caused her pain. She has a couple of pairs of Swarowvski clip ons that I have mistaken for real earrings. Check out Swarowski, they make some nice clip earings, especially for special occassions.

I just reread my comment and realized that it came off a bit snarky….I apologize.

I am the bride and I don’t have my ears pierced.  I won’t wear any, and I don’t really mind how my bridesmaids accessorize.  If they wear earrings or not it doesn’t matter to me.

Ms. Smuttynose, I didn’t think your comment came across as snarky at all.  I didn’t have pierced ears until I was 28 because I was a big baby and afraid of getting them done.  I’d heard horror stories from my mother about how bad it was and how hard it was for them to heal (of course she had hers done with an ice cube, a potato, and a needle!).  Once I had my son, I figured it couldn’t be as painful as childbirth and so I went and had it done.

My point is that although I didn’t have pierced ears it wasn’t because I didn’t want them or didn’t want earrings; it was because I was afraid to have it done.  I’m glad you posted what you did.  It made me think about it differently.  I had always assumed other non-piercers either were afraid like me or had allergy problems like my sister.  I hadn’t even thought about those who just didn’t want to wear earrings.  Thanks for the new perspective.

I also don’t have pierced ears!  I had them pierced when I was 9 and began to develop keloids (excess scar tissue) so I let them heal closed.  I have zero desire now to wear earrings, though.  Especially in the midwest where I grew up virtually no one got their ears pierced during infancy, so it was alway seen as an optional thing.

I would also never wear clip-ons.
