I am getting married in Southern Illinois!  I am planning from St. Louis, not nearly as far, but still makes it more difficult.

There aren’t a lot of vendors with websites from the area, but if you look really hard, you can find some.  We are using Darrell Mankin for photography and loved our initial meeting with him:

Here are some others I found during my search:

There are definitely more, these are just the ones I at one time was considering, I never contacted or met with any of them, though.

Good luck!

I’m planning from St. Louis too.  We are both orginally from West Frankfort and are getting married at Rustle Hill Winery in Cobden.  We are using Bee Foto

http://beefoto.com/

from Chicago as our photog they travel all over IL without a travel fee and they’re prices are extremly reasonable.

Have you guys picked a reception venue?

lol, I know what you mean!  Thats why we’re getting married 45 mins from our hometown.  I wanted someplace beautiful and outside and WF just wasn’t cutting it.

I’m sure the VFW will turn out great.  We went to the Murphysboro VFW for New Years Eve and it was transformed, I’m sure it will look great for your reception.  I’ve never been to Fort de Chartres but I’ve heard its beautiful also!

We are also paying for everything ourselves thats why we’re having a 26 month engagement we’re each saving weekly to make it work.  My Fiance has champagne taste on a beer budget so I’m trying to make do with all his whims like having 3 limos all night to shuttle our guests so no one has to drive.  Its an amazing idea I just don’t know that I can make it work on our budget lol.

We’re having the ceremony and reception at the Winery.  They don’t have they’re reception center built yet (they break ground in March 2010) so we’re getting a really good deal.  Also we’re part of a BBQ team and they’re preparing our main course so all we have to pay for is sides so thats a huge help and one of the reasons we’re going with a location thats fairly new to the wedding business we’re allowed to bring in all our food and alcohol.

i live in St Louis but actually getting married in Springfield.  I don’t think of that as southern IL, but there’s no other local board that fits me.

Our photog is great and will travel: http://www.mattdebackere.com

As is my DOC: Stephanie at http://www.fetestl.com

Hello everyone hope you had a great weekend.  We found out over the weekend that the winery we were supposed to be getting married has scaled back plans from a capacity of 200 max to 125 max.  Needless to say we can’t make it work.

Does anyone have any good wedding/reception venues.  We are trying to stay in a 50 mile radius of West Frankfort.  Thanks for any help!

Hi, I am new to the boards but as I am frantically planning for my wedding in Southern Illinois, I thought I should pop in and say ‘hi’.

I am getting married in the Anna/Cobden area and would love to hear any ideas or swap suggestions with any other brides. It’s been hard getting all of the information as I actually live about 4 hours away.

@bellea Hello!  Do you have a venue?  If not I saw some pictures of Edition 315 at the SIUC bridal show last weekend and it looks amazing.  We are going to check it out Feb. 6th.  The website is http://www.edition315.com/ but its horrible, there 21 pictures on FB but they’re not very good either lol.  Being brand new doesn’t bode well with online advertising I guess.

@guffe Thanks, it just sucks to be starting over on the venue search.  When we got engaged last Feb. thats the first thing I did and now I’m back to the search, oh well I’ll find it!  Also, I would love to get together and Feb is super busy for me so after that would be great!
