So, I wan’t planning on wearing a veil – I’m not religious, and even though we are having a traditional ceremony done by a Rabbi, it will still me modern. I figured I didn’t need the extra expense, plus felt kinda silly wearing one – I’m not just wearing ivory instead of white because I have pale skin, if you catch my drift.
But i ran across this pic and my heart stopped. I’ll probably never get a picture like this, but now I kinda want a veil.
Anyone choose to skip it and then regret it?
Also, this may be a silly question, but I know there are many traidtional reasons to cover the bride’s face with a veil, but with a matilla veil that doesn’t cover the face – what’s the point – just pretty?

I don’t think it’s a silly question at all!! I didn’t wear a veil at my wedding, and I 100% do not regret it. There are lots of alternatives to veils that are super gorgous!
However, if you want a veil, get one! Even if you don’t end up using it on your actual wedding day, you could have your photographer shoot some photos of it for you to look back on.

thanks! I think I might be really into the veil idea now.
does any one know if there is a different name for the kind of veil that covers the head but not the face and the kind that just clips under the hair?

You don’t have to use the blusher with the veil and can clip it in anywhere. I chose to wear a blusher for my wedding day, because I just wanted a more dramatic look.

Ohhhh a BLUSHER! thank you for telling me the right terminology. I’m a complete veil novice. Any other brides with veil ideas/regrets? Feel free to post pics!

Well, I kind of wish I had taken mine off at the reception. I LOVED it, I never have any reason to wear one again but my hair looked GREAT and it was hard to see through the veil. But it did make for some pretty pictures before hand.

I bought one off etsy, then while I was getting ready decided I didn’t want it, and have no regrets at all! I just went with the cute headband I was going to wear for the reception.

I wore a cathedral veil for my first wedding. It was a pain in the butt. This time around, I went with no veil and had some flowers in my hair. I have not regretted it one bit.

I had made a cathedral but it was too windy the day of to wear it. I was sad because I love them but it was really for the best.

I was going to do no veil at all but then my mom and me made a cathedral veil and it and still is the best part of tangible things that day…

No veil and no regret. My hair extensions and giant flower were enough to keep up with!

pictures of those lovely veil alternatives you girl mentioned?

No veil, no regrets. I had a hair piece and felt much more comfortable. I felt awkward enough dragging a train around.

I had a cathedral veil my girlfriend lent me, and I wore it only for our first look photos. I took it off to do our off-site photos before the ceremony, and then it never got back to me.
I liked it in the photos, but it was a bit of a pain, so I’m glad in the end that I didn’t have to deal with it for the ceremony. It would’ve come off for the reception anyway, so I don’t regret it. I wouldn’t have spent $$ on it just to wear for photos and a bit of the ceremony.
