I prefer ales over lagers, and porters over stouts. Can you folks share your favorite crafts/micros of those? All this talk has me wanting to stop at the Village Beer Merchant tomorrow and it would be interesting to see if they carry stuff that you’re all familiar with.

Yup! I don’t brew or anything, but have several friends who do (including my parents!) and the most expert friend is going to brew us some wedding beer. When wedding planning looks bleak, I can always get super excited about that.

@gertrude:  Since you’re in Buffalo, two of the Ithaca seasonals I love are Cold Front (malty and hoppy) and Gorges Smoked Porter. The porter is SO smoky and amazing. Both are fall/winter beers, though.

We love, love, love craft beer! Right now, we’re getting as much of Avery’s Karma as possible. It’s Belgian pale ale, and it’s so tasty. I’m usually not a big pale ale person, but I freakin’ love this stuff. Porters and stouts are my favorite.

I live in Denver, and Colorado is an amazing place for craft beer. If y’all are into festivals, you should check out the Great American Beer Festival in Denver. This year there will be more than 450 breweries and 2,000 beers. It’s amazing.
