Hey bees!
I have a small dilemma and was wondering if any cruise pros could help me out! We have a chance to go on one of two cruises for our honeymoon
Option 1: Norweigan Cruise for 7 days traveling to florida and two ports in the bahamas
Option 2: Royal Caribean Cruise for 11 days traveling to dominican republic, st, thomas, st. marteen, and st. kitts
I have been on several cruises but only through Celebrity so I do not know about these lines and likewise havent done these iteneraries
Opinions?
ETA: Same cost for both (give or take $50)

@excitedtobeMRSF: I’ve done Carnival cruises to various spots in the caribbean and it was great! What time of year are you going? It might not be that warm in the Bahamas – you might want to go down a little more south.

@Sea_Ashley: March! My Fiance gets cranky when hot so we were hoping for not too too hot

@excitedtobeMRSF: Hello,
I have not been on Norweigan, but Royal Carribean was amazing! I would always opt to go more places – more to see, more to do, different experiences! Plus its 11 days!

I would want more stops. We did a 7 day cruise with four stops and it was perfect. I didn’t like spending so much time on the boat.
If you go to St. Maarten make sure to visit the beach right next to the airport. You get to see the planes come in for a landing right over your head! St. Thomas was my favorite stop on our cruise. We took a catamaran to St. John and words can’t describe how beautiful it was! We also had time to shop around St. Thomas, as well. I would return there in a heartbeat!
ETA: We went with a private tour company called Bernard’s Tours on St. Maarten. Highly recommend.

@excitedtobeMRSF: I’m not a “cruise pro” by any means (I wish I could afford to be one, tho!) but if you’re just looking for good ports, decent food, and lots of fun, I’d go with Carnival. They’re usually cheaper and my ex and I always had a good time.

I would def do the virgin Islands. My husband and I did a cruise for our honeymoon but we made it a 10 day trip with a 7 day cruise.
Flew to Puerto Rico Thursday and stayed until Sunday then left for a 7 day cruise (from Puerto Rico) to St Thomas, Barbados, St Lucia, St Kitts and St. Marteen. The Bahamas is great but the virgin islands were much better.

@excitedtobeMRSF: You’re welcome! Of the four stops we made (Bahamas, St. Maarten, St. Thomas, Grand Turk) St. Maarten and St. Thomas were our favorites!

In my experience, Celebrity wins for food and service, and is very quiet if you value your privacy. RC is also very well run and caters to a somewhat younger and more social crowd than Celebrity, but a very nice group of people, not an over the top loud, drinking crowd. I would not recommend Norwegian.
