dununt3:  Thank you for posting this photo and your top/bottom sizes – I’m very close in size and it’s good to see what a ballgown type dress will look like!

I found something that boosted my confidence a 100%.  A BOUDOIUR shoot!  It was so much fun, and the photographer knew exactly what to do to make me look smoking hot.  It was great.  I would recommend it for all curvy girls.

It’s what I’m giving my honey on our wedding day, getting the pictures made up in a book.

I have gained 40 pounds due to an illness and medication. I wanted to wait to try on dresses until I could lose some weight…but my best friend since Kindergarten, (40 plus years ago) told me yesterday we were going today. We went to a place I had not planned on going to ever…..we went to David’s Bridal on a Saturday. My friend told me to ignore the number, find the one that spoke to me…at the end of 1.5 hours, I would still have my fiance and know a bit more about dresses. I went to the appointment with her. I had fun. I wasn’t happy with the fit of all of the dresses. I didn’t like the number, but I found a couple that were nice. The girl I shared the mirror with was a size 6. She tried on dresses she didn’t like the fit and was upset she was a 8 and 10…She did say she wished she could fill out dresses up top like I could…I felt better…All sizes have issues…I am me, now…and maybe will be less heavy me later, but I am me…As the appt ended I even found one that might be the one….didn’t know I wanted lace, didn’t know I wanted straps….but this one called to me…IMG_1170

I was worried when I first got engaged, because I am heavier than I was when I was younger.  But seeing all the pictures on here of brides of every shape and size made me realize that there is a dress for everyone.  Find the one that makes you happy, You will be beautiful!  My first appointment at a salon is next month.  So excited.

Don’t underestimate the wonder of a good seamstress. I love my dress I have the same dress as Jamk but in ivory ivory. I tried my dress on for my fmil and didn’t feel that sparkle like when I bought it and was not confident about waring it. Went today to start alterations and the the work she was doing/ showing me made the dress look even more stunning and I had that conference and spark back. I did not go to Davids for alterations as they struggled to order my dress correctly and they wanted double the $. I highly recommend looking for a local seamstress.

robsbeach:  No one will even know what size your dress is. You’ll look beautiful just as you are. Don’t focus on size number, focus on how you feel overall. Wearing something  that fits well is way more flattering (and will make you look slimmer) than trying to fit into a size too small.
