I didn’t know about moissanite until after I got engaged, or else I would have really considered it. Alas, I have a diamond.

Heres mine!…It was my fiance’s Grandmothers from 1910 it’s a platinum heirloom! I wasn’t sure about it at first as it was almost black and crushed. Then the jewler put it on a ring mandral and shaped it to round again and cleaned it and….I simply love it now!

Thank you tati123! I actually already am wearing it because he proposed last year. He got the wrong size though haha. I had never been in a Tiffany’s store before that and am not at all a flashy or extravagant woman so when I got a peek at the price I was actually a little angry. That makes me sound mean but I am frugal and Joe normally is as well. I also have never known anything about diamonds at all not even sizes. If I had picked my own I would have selected way under the 2 carrots he got since I have tiny fingers and it really sticks out. I live in New York City and am always afraid of getting mugged for it haha. I turn it around to just the band on the subway. I think that Tiffany’s gets diamonds from a reputable place but I will check into that now after reading this whole thread.

@Mrs Moeser: That ring is amazing! I love, love that it’s from the 1910’s! It must have been exciting to see the jeweler bring it back to life! I have a simple moissanite setting (solitaire w/sidestones) but I absolutely love the look of vintage/heirloom rings! That would have been my second choice. =)

I know most of my friends and family have diamonds or just plain bands.  I have one friend that has a sapphire, so I think diamonds are still pretty popular in choice.  I was glad to come on here and see the different choices in stones that were out there.  Even though mine won’t be a diamond, I think diamonds are still pretty and the different cuts make them unique.  My ring is going to have an alexandrite and diamonds on it. =)

By the way, I forgot to say this, but everybody’s rings are so pretty!  I love seeing them all. Laughing

My Fiance and I went to the jeweler and told her he wanted something very traditional for me–i.e. just a round diamond solitaire with nothing else. Well, *she* told him that traditional is *actually* sapphires…hence, the Royal Windsor Engagement Sapphires.  That traditional English engagement bands were not diamonds at all.  Imagine his shock, poor man.

HI!!!!  Here’s mine!! 🙂  It was just finished being made! I considered moissy and asha but the bf is ‘traditional’ in the sense that he buys into the whole “a diamond is forever” thing.
