I just have a question about what type of speakers did you use? I am trying to find some nice quality speakers to hook up with my Dell laptop, the wedding will be small, about 40 people, but we want to still have some music without wasting $1000++ for a DJ…
Any tech savy bees?

My sister rented a small amp and a microphone. She used an input line to plug her ipod into the amp. It was easy and less than $100 to rent it for the day.

We rented a whole set up including a sound board, speakers, automatic dance lights and a microphone. The whole thing cost us $250 in Milwaukee, WI.
I didn’t know anything about renting sound equiptment, so I called a few music stores and they set me up with this great sound equiptment company in my area. They were fabulous to work with – they showed me how to hook everything up to my computer and they let us keep the equiptment from Thursday through Monday.
I imagine you could find something like this in most other major cities … and I LOVED having an iPod wedding, we got to hear all the music we really loved and people responded well.
One additional note: it’s good to have a friend act as ‘DJ’ and mind the music, just so things flow well and so that there aren’t any unexpected surprises from party-goers hijacking the music (although we had that and we were still surprised with the ‘Chicken Dance’ … and it was amazing)
