Tennant is mine and FI’s Doctor. I like Eccleston a lot, honestly, but he’s just not my Doctor – his character arc is amazing though, and I love the way he got to evolve, it just took a second (or third) watch through to really appreciate the depth his character was given.

I really dislike the way Moffat has taken the series, but whenever I talk about it with friends other than Fiance I get told to be quiet because it’s Doctor Who so I have to love it and never criticize it, or I must hate it. No. I love it, I just hate where it’s going and I hate that under Moffat few episodes pass the Bechdel test (which is a seriously low bar anyway) even though there’s always ONE female character present automatically.

I’ll stop ranting now.

@AutumnRose781:  I grew up being force-fed the reruns of the old stuff, and I’m like the Doctor Who anti-hipster. I am SO GLAD that everyone knows what Doctor Who is and that you can find merchandise in Hot Topic. My brother is a huge Doctor Who junkie and it makes it so much easier to buy him presents!

My Doctors in order of love:

#1 Tie: Matt Smith (11) and Tom Baker (4) (and all the Doctors in Curse of the Fatal Death, although they don’t count)

#3 Patrick Troughton (2)

#4 Christopher Eccleston (9)

#5 Tie: Paul McGann (8) and David Tennant (10) [David’s score was wrecked by TEoT]

#7 Jon Pertwee (3)

#8 William Hartnell (1)

#9 Peter Davison (5)

#10 Colin Baker (6)

#11 Sylvester McCoy (7)

ETA: John Hurt/ 8.5!!! I forgot him… He’s probably #3, TBH, so bump everyone else down accordingly. And I am so very excited about Capaldi, too. 🙂

@AutumnRose781:  Love Doctor Who. My fave is Matt Smith with David Tenent a close second. I also loved the UK Torchwood (the US version is crap), and one of my all time favorite sci-fi things EVER is Torchwood:Children of Earth. So good!

Who are your fave companions? Mine are Amy Pond, Donna and Clara

@peachacid:  I think you’re forgetting that “John Frobisher was a good man.” Frobisher definitely wasn’t evil, he was just a really, really tragic character in it all and he did what he had to do to protect his family. I still bawl my eyes out during that scene…

Also, the Sixth Doctor was a baddie before he was the Doctor, so it’s not unheardof for the Doctor to have been in an episode before. Richard E. Grant (baddie from The Snowmen) was the original Ninth Doctor when they did the animated adventure Scream of the Shalka, so it’s gone the other way as well.

@KoiKove:  Donna was my fave. Her comical scenes are hysterical and the chemistry between her and Tennant was spot on.

@tksjewelry:  The Adipose episode remains one of my favorite hours of television ever…INCLUDING X-FILES.  Which says a lot.

What is The After?  Does it have to do with the X-Files, or is it only Chris Carter?  Google is broken, thanks.

@Nostawyn:  But he’s still a character within the universe…so I think his being made the Doctor is a mistake.  Anyway, I’ll eventually come around, I’m sure.

A good friend of ours made his basement into a bar called the Drunken Tardis.  =)

@AutumnRose781:  I am so in love with David Tennant as the Doctor… or really just David Tennat in general. I am watching 11 now, and I just don’t like how kid like he seems… So far my doctors go 10 is my favorite, 9 is next and then 11. I want to watch Old Who though!

I really don’t get why people like 11… and I personally can’t STAND River Song.

@KoiKove:  Ooo! Companions! There are so many to choose from. My favorite comanions are K-9, Sarah Jane, Leela, the Brigadier (I genuinely sobbed when I found out he had died, the only celebrity I’ve ever cried over), Jamie, Wilf, Donna, and Rory.

Clara bores me to tears, but I think it’s because we don’t have any companions who are just regular people anymore. They’re all super important and vital to the Doctor’s life and/or the space-time continuum… Even Martha and Donna didn’t get to be normal in the end.

@peachacid:  So were Martha, Amy, and Gwen. Not big characters, but still. They reuse actors a lot.

@tksjewelry:  I knew there was I reason I liked you TKS 🙂 I feel like Donna doesnt get the love she should. Really do not like Rose, something about her drives me insane. Which is weird because I loved Billie Piper in Diary of a Call Girl and some more period BBC/PBS stuff she’s done.

@peachacid:  They recycle lots of people from within the universe. He was also the father in the episode about Pompeii (and Amy was in that one, too!).

@peachacid:  it’s not related to x-files, just made by Carter. It’s an Amazon original test pilot, but they are asking fans to decide what goes forward.  It’s getting a lot of comparisons and it seems fans are split. I’m not sure what it’s about yet, the first episode was basically a set up for the characters. It like a mix of lost, x-files, and the event.

@KoiKove:  The Adipose episode was my favorite too. That scene where they are talking through the glass across a room was epic.

@MrsTeasandkeys:  I love 11 because he brought back a certain… Doctory-ness that was really lacking by the end of Ten’s run. Ten was perfection itself at first, but by the end something was really missing. The Eleventh Hour restored my faith in Doctor Who in a major way. I was so very let down by bringing Rose back, and then the shitshow that was The End of Time… And then 11 showed up and he was just… The Doctor again, rather being The Super Special Almighty 10th Doctor. Between the writing and the fandom at the time, I still have a hard time swallowing Ten’s latter episodes. (With the exception of Waters of Mars, which is very good).

ETA: I think what I’m trying to say is that there was too much focus on David by the end of his run, by pretty much everyone including the writing team, and not enough focus on The Doctor. “I don’t want to go” is still the most vomit-worthy line anything ever…
