Huge Whovian here! Out of the old doctors, Tom Baker is my favourite. And David Tennant from the new series, although I really enjoyed Matt Smith as well.

Amy is my favourite companion!

@zumbaista:  All of my favorite episodes of Davies’s run were by Moffat, so I had such high hopes when he took over. And oh, The Eleventh Hour happened and I just thought “YES! This is perfection.” And then The Beast Below happened… Moffat is great at one-off adventures, zingy one-liners, cliff hangers, and scary monsters. He’s not so great at story arcs or resolving cliff hangers, and so I’m not loving his tenure as showrunner nearly as much as I’d hoped. It still beats the heck out of how Ten went out, though.

Honestly, though, I don’t know that many episodes passed the Bechdel test even before Moffat took over. Usually even when two women are talking to one another, they’re talking about the Doctor.

@AutumnRose781:  I’m still just at the end of season 4, but I LOVE the 10th Doctor. I didn’t think I’d get into this show, but man have I ever. Oh the feels about Donna Noble!

@AutumnRose781:  David is my doctor too.  *swoon* When he regenerated I actually sobbed.  I had to take a break.  FI thought it was hilarious.  I’ll never be able to like Matt Smith as much.

@Nostawyn:  Meh, I like the irony of “I don’t want to go” because its the exact opposite of “Allons-y”. As much as I LOVE 10 and I didn’t want to see him go I felt like it was time to move on.

However, and I am speaking from someone who has only seen “New Who”, I don’t appreciate 11’s interpretation of the doctor. He is ANCIENT, but he acts like a child so much of the time that it bothers me. With 9 and 10 I could still feel his knowledge and feel his age behind the younger face… with 11 I feel like its lacking. He DOES have some great episodes, but to me they are few and far between.

I was SUPER on board with 11 during the episode with the Starwhale. He was fierce and I FELT the Doctor then, but I haven’t as much since.

But to each their own! I don’t knock people that love 11, I just prefer 10. 🙂

@sostobe:  +1 I bawled like someone had died… I took a break too! i literally rewatched the whole series, starting from 9 with my mom and she waits for us to be together to watch them… so 10 still has a handful of more episodes.

I moved on to 11, it took adjustment since I don’t love Moffat as much as RTD and Amy and Roy and River are not my favorites. I miss some of the old crew, like Captain Jack, SO bad!

@MrsTeasandkeys:  God I hate that line so much, though, because it felt like in that moment the show was about David and not The Doctor. I really do think it was that adventure and the fandom that soured me on David so very much that I refused to watch his later episodes with my Fiance.

I feel like Matt does a very good job of old in the moments when the Doctor lets his guard down. To a large extent his “childishness” was for show, although the general air of enthusiasm was not. There are several Doctors who have elements of 11’s youthful enthusiasm, goofy humor, and general childishness, and they tend to be on up there with my favorites.

I am a (newbie) Whovian! I had always heard about the series but never had sat down and watched an episode. I just started watching since the 50th anniversary in November. Since then, I have completely caught up. I can’t believe that I never got into it before!

David Tennant is definitely my doctor. I didn’t mind Matt Smith, but I really enjoyed watching Tennant, so it was hard to adjust!

Torchwood is wonderful, but dear lord, it is a LOT darker than Doctor Who, at least for me. I can’t always watch it because sometimes I just need something uplifting or at least that makes me laugh half as much as I cry – that’s when I go back and watch Star Trek or something though, because for all the ethical questions it makes me hopeful for the future (a very hard thing to do).

@Nostawyn: I absolutely LOVED lots of Moffat’s episdoes, too, so I was very hopeful when he took over, but it just seems like he needs someone to tell him “no” every once in a while. “Blink” was so freaking scary and awesome, and then he comes and overuses/ruins the angels later; it was really quite tragic imo.

As to the Bechdel Test, someone actually went and compared passage of it under Moffat and RTD and found that RTD as both a writer and showrunner was more likely to pass the Bechdel test (which is, seriously, the bare minimum for female social interaction). http://stfu-moffat.tumblr.com/post/26563967871/doctor-who-bechdel-test (taken with a grain of salt because it’s from tumblr, but then again it seems to back up its facts pretty well).

DH just recently got me into Doctor Who, so we’ve binge watching the (newer) series on Netflix. I think we’re in Season 6? I’ve liked all the companions, but Rose is, without a doubt, my favorite so far. Donna probably ranks second for me, but I’ve only see a few episodes with Amy so far.

David Tennant is definitely my doctor – love his hair and his personality! I’m having some trouble adapting to Matt Smith, but I’m sure I’ll get used to him soon.

Anyone know if Torchwood is on Netflix or Hulu? I’d love to check it out.

Although 9 was my first Doctor, I think 11 is my favourite. I’ve really been enjoying Moffat’s run as showrunner, although I don’t necessarily agree with everything he does, Russell T Davies started losing me as soon as 10 came along. David Tennant was wonderful, and he did so well with a lot of really awful scripts, but by the end I’d just had enough of RTD.
