So I really don’t care for my dress anymore. It’s pretty, but it’s just not me, blah blah blah, whatever. I’ve researched quite a bit, and found a few other dresses that I like. But really when it comes right down to it, there’s no way I can afford another dress, and god-knows how long it could take to sell mine. Plus, there’s no guarantee that I won’t have regret with the new dress.
Did anyone else have dress regret, but just suck it up and wear it anyway??
If you got a new dress, did you ever wonder about your first choice? In the grand scheme, did it REALLY matter??
I mean, it’s just one dress, one day….right?

I added a poll to try and lure in some response.

LOL I wish I could’ve said loved my original, suckas!! I went through dress hell, but I’m completely neurotic when it comes to being in front of a crowd, so that added a lot of stress. I also bought a dress my mom loved, but looked horrible on me, b/c I kept convincing myself it could work if…. but, yeah, the only if that would have made it work was a different body. So, I spent extra money that I am still paying back and boughtthe only dress I felt comfortable and pretty in. Not exactly what I’d recommend to everyone, but it saved the day for me.

Sorry to hear this, but I feel your pain!
I bought one and instantly regretted it. Seriously considered re-selling and buying a new one, but required alot of trouble and uncertanty. When is your wedding? I’m having mine altered BIG time! I managed to get hold of the manafacturers and ordered an extra 5 yrds of material and am adding lotsof lace/pearls/exciting things! If you speak to a seemstress, the possibilities of customising your dress to perfection is endless!
Hope you get it fixed! Xx

I did on my brand new maggie sottero, then sold it and got something I had no doubts about. I did it 2.5 months before the wedding too. If you feel it, look around and find what it is you want!

@katiedee: About 5 months till my wedding I started having some major dress regret! I loved my dress when I tried it on, but I like everyone else had a wondering eye. Not good!! I knew that I really didnt have a lot of time or money to try to get a new dress so I just tried to suck it up. Well I had my first dress fitting two weeks ago, and I completely fell back in love with my dress and cant wait to wear it. I think I went so long without wearing it that I forgot how amazing I felt in it. Now for you, you have some time, but it could be cutting it close. Hopefully you have a great experience like I did!!

Well thanks everyone for your replies. It seems like if I am really doubting my choice, I should just go out and find another dress. Blehhh, it’s just soooo much effort, lol!
Or maybe I’ll find a magical alterations genie who can turn my taffeta gown into silk organza, and cut off all the flowers (sooo many flowers…what was i thinking?)!

I put other.
I bought my dress and have yet to wear it. I have had major dress regret I guess you could say. Getting off of these boards and stoping looking at dresses has helped me a lot, now I am just indifferent, I guess. Yes, I wish I would have tried on and possible bought something else, but I really couldn’t have afforded it, well maybe I could have, but we are going on a great honeymoon and that is a lot better than spending $$ on a dress.

I have some dress regret. I shopped without doing any research and prior to posting on this board. I chose the Sottero and Midgley Adorae, which, as I have come to learn, is apparently the most popular wedding dress ever. For my area, it is considered an “expensive” dress, so hopefully people won’t have seen it before IRL. Although, a few friends have commented that a cousin/friend from away wore the dress and it always takes the wind out of my sails.
I do love the way it looks on me, but knowing it is so popular has taken a lot of the thrill out of it for me 🙁 I wish I had done my research.
I can’t afford another dress and don’t want to deal with the hassel, so I am just meh about it.

I feel the same way as you do! I have dress regret and for a while I entertained the idea of buying a new one, but I just couldn’t go through with it.
The extra cost and the extra drama just wasn’t worth it to me. Although I do sometimes waiver on that decision. I’m less than a month out…no turning back now.
So I’m saying f it! Hoping the other dress regret brides who wore their original and ended up loving it will share their stories with us…
