Ah, shopping for your wedding dress. It’s supposed to be such a fun time where everything goes perfectly, right? Not so much. If you’re anything like me, you ran into some “interesting” situations in the process. Please share!
When I went shopping for my dress, the consultant at the very first store I went to was, well…weird. First of all, she kept commenting (very loudly) on various body parts (“Wow, that dress makes your boobs look huge!”). I appreciate the compliment (I guess?), but please don’t shout it across the store. She did this multiple times throughout my visit. Secondly, I told her right up front that I did not want to know prices or designers of the dresses that I was trying on. I wanted to make my decision solely based on the dress I loved. Not the designer or the price tag. In the end, I totally fell in love with a dress that was, surprisingly, not my favorite designer and was quite inexpensive compared to what I had planned on spending. She then told me that the dress I had picked was “cheap” and that it wouldn’t be special because “any bride could afford this”.
So…I had her take my measurements and I wrote them down, and then ordered my dress elsewhere. Too bad for her, I added over $3000 in modifications to my “cheap” dress. I imagine she wouldn’t have minded getting the commission on that, eh? 🙂
