- Wedding: September 2012
Hello everyone…wow it has been awhile since I have posted! I fell off the face of the planet when my little man was born last year…..he’s walking now, lol.
But I am pleased to announce that I am back on the wedding band wagon. No date set as yet, but looking to venues to have a wedding in August next year (fingers crossed).
I wanted to share my dress search with you! I completely fell in love with a dress from the Vera Wang White Collection, the one that is blush pink with the gorgeous skirt (can’t remember the style number sorry). Anyway it was dumb of me to fall in love with it, I am in Australia and that collection is not available here. I looked into having someone buy it for me and shipping to here….it was doable but I couldnt commit without trying it on.
I took the photo to a local bridal boutique, I was dismayed at the very small selection of gowns they had. They gave me a few designer books to look at and said if I wanted to try anything on it would cost $50 per dress in shipping. ECK, I couldnt commit that spending money like that either.
Then last week while I Mum and I were in Sydney (2 hours South from where I live) on our weekly trip to look after my Nan, We came across a small boutique over the road from the nurses office in Blacktown. Very randomly Mum convinced me it would be fun to go in and try some dresses on.
Again I showed the picture of the dress I was in love with and the assistant started putting me in gowns with full princess skirts that were full of pickups. She claimed it was the same look, soft bubbles. NO NO NO that dress is not bubbley. It looks like rose petals, not bubbles. ARGH. It was shocker after shocker. I was getting over it. Mum kept pointing to a mermaid style that was on display but they dudnt have one that would fit me (apparently my street size 14 as says the jeans I am currently wearing, translates to a bridal 20 yikes).
So lets just say I went through lots of dresses, then she put Ella 5434 on me, complete with Lacey Bolero. The corest sucked me in, I looked tiny, and I couldnt take my eyes off of it. She suckered me a bit, she told me the bolero was included. Then it turned out it was $200 extra. But she said she would take $200 off a headpiece. I nearly backed out at that revelation, but what the hell I laybyed it. I didnt get any photos of myself, which I regret and am starting to get buyers remorse. Did I jump the gun buying something so “bridal” when I had been looking at things that were so very different? Hopefully I can sweet talk them into letting me take photos when I go in to make a Layby payment. I’m not stressing too much because I have time to change my mind as they don’t order until they have 50% of the cost of the gown. It just means I am committed to buying from this boutique or I loose my money.
So are there any other Ella 5434 Brides out there? I have looked for real brides wearing her but so far have been unsuccessful. I always thought I wanted a sash, but I think one probably wouldnt suit the bling detail already on this dress.
Here she is in her glory. Opinions Ladies?
