That ring is so pretty!

I would recommend not wearing it when you clean, wash dishes, sleep, work out, etc. It could definitely be a daily ring, if your work doesn’t involve being hard on rings.

Emeralds are so classy.  I wear mine all of the time and haven’t had any damage to speak off

My SIL had one as her engagement ring and ended up resetting with a diamond because it got quite a few chips in it after a while. I would probably baby it a fair bit personally.

@aninin:  Fantastic find!  I’ve always used warm, sudsy water (with Dawn dish soap) and a washcloth to gently clean the amethysts in my jewelry.

Emeralds are 7.5-8.0 on the Mohs scale, but the inclusions common in natural stones (sometimes called “gardens”) may make them more susceptible to chips and fractures. Emeralds are also often treated with oil to enhance their color.  They shouldn’t be soaked in harsh chemicals, like alcohol, lest these treatments be damaged.  Knowing this can help you wear your ring daily and keep it in good condition.  I’ve got several right-hand emerald rings that I wear often with no trouble.

@aninin:  I’d assume it has been.  A local jeweler could advise you, though.  Your ring is beautiful!
