I’m planning a Detroit area wedding for fall 2010 and wondered if anyone had experience using the following venues (this includes hosting a wedding or attended a function). My Fiance and I are living abroad currently so we can only see pictures on the internet at the moment.
Hyatt Regency Dearborn
Westin Metropolitan Airport
Westin Book Cadillac Detroit
Polo Fields Ann Arbor
The Rattlesnake Club Detroit
Many thanks and Happy New Year!!

here are some thoughts:
Rattlesnake Club has great food. And it’s nice to be so close to the river.
My parents checked out the Book Cadillac but felt that access and parking were difficult.
The ballroom for the Hyatt Dearborn is upstairs which you may or may not like. It is a much more modern venue than say the Cadillac. I’ve been to events there…I do feel a bit like you really need to do a lot of decoration to get it to look special…the ballroom itself is a bit plain. Depends on your taste though.
The Westin at the airport is a cool building. I sometimes have lunch there before flights and the food is great. I suppose the only downside is that you are literally at the airport (there’s a security entrance in the lobby). On the other hand, it could be more convenient for out of towners.
Don’t know if that’s helpful or not…Have you looked into the Roostertail? I’m just guessing based on some of the other venues you’ve mentioned, but you might like it. The food, venue, and views are excellent.

I would recommend looking into the OMNI Dowtown Riverfront. I haven’t booked a venue yet, but if you contact them ask for Matt. He’s extremely helpful, and work will with ANY budget to help! It comes with alot of incentives, including a free room for you for the night of your wedding!

Miss Mango, did you decide on a venue? A friend of my sister’s had her wedding at the Polo Fields in Ann Arbor, and it was really nice.
