It’s starting to look like my only option for wedding day hair and make-up is a salon that exclusively uses Aveda cosmetics. I’ve never used Aveda before.
Do any of you Bees use Aveda on a regular basis or did you use it for your wedding or engagement pictures? How does it wear? How does it photograph? How does it do in sunlight, especially if it is warm? Does it start to melt if you sweat a bit? Does it smear easily?
As someone who normally does not wear much make-up (standard for me is just mascara and a bit of blush), will I find it uncomfortable?
I originally wanted to go the route of airbrush make-up, but I can’t find anyone within my budget that does it. 🙁

I haven’t used Aveda cosmetics before, but I have been going to Aveda salons for the last 5-6 years for my hair cut and coloring, and I love their products and their service – that’s why even when I moved across the country I looked for a new Aveda salon. Their highlighting colors are super super natural; I never walk out of the salon feeling like my highlights look like “too much.” I also started using their chamomile shampoo for color-treated hair, and it makes my hair really silky – I can definitely tell a difference in quality between that shampoo and the Garnier shampoo I use periodically.
So anyway, I share that because I would think Aveda has great cosmetics! I don’t think you would find their cosmetics uncomfortable because all of their products are very natural and plant-based, so I would guess that their skin products go on with more natural coverage than some other brands. Smudging shouldn’t be an issue if your makeup artist applies primer. And don’t worry about finding airbrush makeup, I’m sure you will look beautiful! It’s more about choosing a look that suits you well than using airbrush foundation, if you ask me. I think if you’re really nervous, you should schedule a trial run for your makeup! Or if that’s not possible, I’m sure you could buy some powder and foundation and try wearing it around on sunny days.

I’m going to an Aveda salon for my hair and makeup on my wedding day. I recently had my trial and I loved the makeup. I rarely wear makeup (only eye makeup if I’m going out) and I never wear foundation. The foundation they put on made my skin look smooth and natural and I couldn’t even feel that it was on. It held up well the whole day, although I was indoors most of the day and not sweating so I can’t vouch for that.

Aveda is awesome. My FI’s cousin works for them and gives us stuff to use all the time – i love it! She uses the cosmetics and always looks absolutely amazing – very fresh and natural!
