I was looking at the website too and was wondering the same thing. Did your bridesmaid end up buying a dress from there or have you heard anything?

I would like to know too.  I see it is a company in China and i have heard a lot of good and a lot of bad from them.  The prob is that i worry the “good” i hear may be staged?  But then again if these sites are so bad, how have they not been shut down?

Hi Celeste,

Did you ever purchase your dress from the goweddingdress.com??? I looked into the website and I am suprized of how cheap the bridal dresses are compared to the ones in the stores. Please let me know if you have gotten any other information?

Thanks,

I was going to by a dress from one of these sites until I did a bit of research on the shipping portion of the interaction. the dress is a great deal and sometimes the stitching from china and other countries is great but once its shipped you have the possibility of paying tariffs and duty. You never know how much this will be and depending on the shipping company it fluctuates. If you go on the the US gov web page to research how much these costs may come too there was so much to read thru I decided to just go the proper route. Im not planning on buying a $8000 dress so the savings would not be that great.

Okay – I have been looking everywhere for more bridal reviews on goweddingdress and this is the only place I can find any – but no one has actually purchased from them.

So I am taking the plunge and I will post my results when/if I receive.

The Dress I wanted is Vivien Leigh #9455 – normally $410, the dress on goweddingdress is $79+19.99 for custom measurements+28.95 fedex shipping.

I am going out on a limb – I pretty much know that if I don’t like or is not what I expected I cannot return it. I figure I am only having my sister in the wedding and if I am out $130 I am okay, disappointed but not the end of the world.  Backup plan – David’s Bridal or Nordstrom I guess. Not sure what the Duties/Import fees will be once I receive the dress – the mail carrier will make you pay upon delivery.

Crossing my fingers and saying a few prayers!!!!

I placed my order on June 8 and had a couple of questions – I received 2 emails from “Grace” at customer service – now when I reply I get a failure to send notice because their mailbox is full – the online chat has been offline for a few days now – not sure what the heck is going on.   Their initial response was good – but right now not so much.

@andreasimonds:

Hi!! I just found my dream dress on weddingdress.com, but am serioulsy hesitant to order based on the lack of BBB ratings and zero company info avail online.  Did you ever receive your dress?  I’d love to hear your experience.  Thanks!

My suggestion is don’t do it – especially if it is your dream wedding dress. I ordered on a whim because I am only having my sister in the wedding and I thought its easier to get one dress if this doesn’t work out. I received the dress on July 1  – so it took about a month. There were no extra fees due – Fedex says they make the sender pay everything. I ripped open and was initially impressed and in love althogh the color was closer to a shimmery mermaid fabric rather than a nice silk- but rushed home with it to inspect closer and of course to try on – even though it was for my sister so sizing was a little off. However – the picture above I posted makes the dress appear to be a thinner fabric.  Goweddingdress used tons of fabric, it doesn’t come off the shoulders as the picture shows – it hugs the neck more. Also they added bra cup inserts inside the lining – which is totally awkward because they are really high and go closer to the collar bone rather than the breasts. They lined it and when you pull fabric back where it crosses across the breasts you can see the ends of unfinished fabric where they gathered it together. it appears that they used fish line or something clear like that to do a stich here and there around the collar in back to help it stay folded down but doesn’t seem to do that great of job and the stich seems to break pretty easily.  Also, the shape of it is not very flattering. It looks like a straight stump rather than defining the waist and belling out at the skirt.

My sister is being sweet and offering to go take it into get it altered to make it work but I would rather go pick something out at David’s Bridal.  That’s where I got my dress after deciding to go the safter route and not order from GoWeddingDress – and I got a great deal at David’s – my dress was extra on sale.

Let me know if you have any other specific questions. I would be happy to answer!!!! i would like to post pictures of the dress but my sister has it right now- so we’ll see.

Hi Bees,

Well I too am also going to try this out….  Except I am going to buy a wedding dress instead of a bridesmaid dress.  I figured since she actually got the dress it can’t be too big of a scam.  My grandma sewed for many years.  I wouldn’t ask her to make my dress because she is getting pretty old but I know she would love to alter one for me if I needed.

My parents aren’t paying for my wedding so I need to do this as cheap as possible.  I realize it may not be perfect but we can probably make something work.  The wedding isn’t until next April so I bought today to have time to make the alterations and what not.  I got the dress with the custom sizing and free shipping right now for $298.  If I can get a great dress for $300 then awesome!!

Here is a picture of the dress and then I will post more pics after we get it and explain what measures I have to take after it comes.

Yes sorry.

I did receive the dress probably about 2 weeks ago.  The dress looks similar but not exactly the same as the picture.  The biggest problem is the dress is made for someone about a size 14 and I wear about a size 6.  I sent in custom measurements but it is way off.  I  am going to have it altered but my grandpa has been sick so grandma has been occupied.  Good news is my wedding isn’t until April so I do have time.

I was thinking I may even just take it somewhere and pay to get it altered depending on cost.  It will also need to be steamed to get the wrinkles out.  It has been hanging for about two weeks but is super wrinkly because they sent it in a 1’x1.5’x4″ box.

As far as quality of the dress it seems to be good, not exactly the same as the picture but still nice assuming I can get it to fit to my size.  I’m not in a hurry to get everything done but I will update again when I get things figured out.  Let you know costs and what not.

Hello, I have ordered a dress from this website too. I made an order on August 23rd since we are having our catholic ceremony in Mexico this December. I ordered custom sizing and I was contacted my Shireley from customer service couple times through email to confirm the lengh of the dress. I am 69 inches tall and I measured 64inches in hollow to hem so she was concerned about the numbers.  It says to measure with the shoes you are planing to wear on  and add an inch or too for fullness if the dress has it and so I did. But we are having a beach ceremony so I was concerned  it might be too long when I will be barefoot. Anyway, I wrote her all my measurements and what the plan is and I am hoping they know what they are doing.

Before ordering it I tryied this dress at House of Brides and the lady at the store told me that all the dresses are made in Asia 🙂 I think it is not hard to guess WHERE..:) so it made me confident to order from this site. Of course I am worried about the final look when it arrives. I keep repeating myself everything is going to be OK. I will update when I will have it in my hands.

Sorry, I can not insert the picture, It just wouldn’t upload here..

If someone interested, the model is Y11008
