Splodge2003:  That’s the prettiest ruby I’ve ever seen! Is it natural or lab? Only asking because I’m so used to seeing natural rubies with absolutely no sparkle and shine.

sarahalthea:  That’s pretty.  What is the stone?  Is it a sapphire?

sarahalthea:  It’s a beautiful color.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen a sapphire quite that shade of blue!  I love it.

Mrs.Sawyertobe:  Thank you so much! Yes, Fiance had to search high and low for an unheated sapphire that wasn’t too inky or too grey. The jeweler who made the ring picked it up internationally when he traveled back to Italy. He’s an elderly Italian man who has been making jewelry for almost 50 years. There really is nothing like it! It’s not terribly big, nor exceptionally flashy, but it is unique and special!

allyfally:  it’s natural but heat treated. We were considering changing it as I had always imagined a real blood red ruby, and this one is more on the pink side, but I love how much it changes in different lights. Now I’m not sure I can bring myself to change it, especially as it’s the one I was proposed to with. I can get a little too focused on tiny details sometimes, but the emotional attachment to the ring is far outweighing my OCD for perfection. I love it for a whole different bunch of reasons instead ๐Ÿ™‚
