I’ve been really thinking about going to Walmart today and getting some morning breakfast drinks. Someone at work told me that it helped her lose weight. I just know I’ve been struggling with what I eat in the morning. I get hungry after only a few hours. I’m thinking that if I get one that has some vitamins and protien in it I can either add it to my breakfast to help it last longer.
Has anyone had any good experience with morning drinks? (Like maybe Slim Fast or Boost?) I’m worried they’ll taste like chalk.

What about making your own protein breakfast drink? You can buy the whey/soy protein powder at walmart, target or any health food store. Scoop what you need in the blender, add some ice cubes, either water or milk then add some fruit (frozen or not). Done.

Good idea. The only thing that I have against that is the fact that I’m actually living with my Future Mother-In-Law and Future Father-In-Law. I often work really early in the morning (sometimes 5-6 AM) and I would be afraid I would be very loud and wake them up.

Be careful about the whey protein powders! I drank these for years and recently found out that these are not regulated by the government. The particular brand I bought contained high levels of arsenic and mercury (yuck!).
Breakfast drinks (like boost) are regulated and are much safer. These never fill me up, but it works for people I know! Good luck!

@BlueChampagne: Thank you for that warning. 🙂

I used to get up extremely early for rowing. I never felt like I could eat anything that early, but when you’re going to be racing you kinda need to. I had good luck with Carnation Instant Breakfast!

I drank the walmart brand slim fast drinks once (when I had mono) and I thought they were okay – vanilla was my fav. I ditto making them yourself. What about making them ahead of time and packing them for the week? Use cheap water bottles or tupperware.
I usually try to eat whole grains like toast with peanut butter or oatmeal with nuts & berries in the mornings. I try and spread my food out through the day. Breakfast at 7, yogurt at 11, leftovers for lunch at 12:30, fruit at 2-3, snack (crackers, granola, candy etc) and green tea at 5pm, dinner at 8 – 8:30pm, mini dessert at 9pm the latest.
I wouldn’t say I’m loosing weight very well. Since I work so late its hard to fit in a workout. But I do very well at maintaining my weight. That is important enough to me right now. So I’m happy.

I personally love the V8 fusion juices (pomegranate blueberry is amazing) and Naked brand of juices. I’m not big on the morning shakes but these are thicker and have a full serving of Fruits and Vegetables in them. One of these and a Fiber one bar (Oats and Chocolate) and it can hold me through to 1 or 2 pm.
