Hi Bees we are thinking about doing grey for the guys. I am not sure should the groom and the guys be all the same shade of grey or should the groom be a lighter shade then the guys to stand out? What should we do? Does anyone have pics I could see?

Ohhh would love to see this!
Hoping my Honey looks great and confident in a grey suit as I think he would be!!!

this is what we’re doing and i think my Fiance and the groomsmen will all be in the same shade because mens warehouse and jims formalwear both only have one option, i’d love to see pictures though!

Fiance and his groomsdudes will all be wearing the same grey pants (FI also has a matching vest and jacket)… I didn’t get any pictures of them, but they look really nice together!

If you google this a lot of good pics come up. I love they grey I just dont know if or how to make my groom stand out. In the second pic it looks like the groom has a vest and the other guys dont.

We’re doing grey for our guys and we’re picking different color tie/vest to make the groom stick out. The groomsmen will be wearing yellow ties/vests, the dads silver ties/vests, and my fiance will be wearing a white tie/vest.
@nicole18ashley: did you go with Men’s Wearhouse or Jim’s Formalwear? We’re going to go with one of those places and I’m curious on their pricing and which one looks the best. We probably won’t be going to rent the tuxes for a few months, so I would love some insight!

My guy is wearing gray. Right now we’re trying to decide if all the guys should wear the same suit, or if we just want to let them all pick out there own.

i wanted to do gray so bad! but a charcoal gray…unfortuatnely they dont really have tuxes for rent in charcoal gray, at least in my area.
Mens Warehouse had some really nice lighter gray tuxes!
i would put them all in the same color. maybe put the groom in a different color vest and tie? thats what we are doing, all the groomsmen are in black with black vest and tie and Groom is in a black tux with white vest and tie to match me 🙂

The Grey Tuxedo from The Mens Wearhouse looks amazing! Its a super 100’s fabric which means its really light and breaths really well. I think the guys would look great all wearing the same tuxedo but different vests. The groomsmen wearing the same vest and your groom wearing something to make him stand out…. either matching you with a white vest or even putting him in a grey vest and the groomsmen in a colored vest.
I would highly recommend The Mens Wearhouse for this tuxedo!
Good Luck and Happy Planning!

My Fiance insists he wear a light gray suit and the groomsmen wear charcoal gray suits. So that’s what he’s gonna get.
It’s not the season for light gray yet, so we are waiting until spring to do the shopping for the guys.

Our guys will be too! We have decided to go with dark grey suits. Also, Fiance is a hard-to-find size (36S) so most fits do not look good on him. We found him a great fitting suit at Zara (for less than $250). What we are doing is we are going to cut scraps from the excess fabric from the pants, and give each GMs a piece. Their job is to find a single-breasted 2 button suit that matches that grey. I’m not too concerned about the matchy-match grey and this way the men can decide how much they want to invest in their suit. (FYI – I’m letting my BMs also pick their own dress in whatever shade of yellow they want. So we are going to ride this mix-match look here too).
Fiance will wear a different color tie (probably one with both yellow and grey) and the GMs will probably wear that tie that is just grey.

@yllom10 – the mens wearhouse and jims formal wear look EXACTLY the same, besides the menswearhouse having a calvins cline tag lol. They’re also just about the same price. Mens wearhouse colors match davids bridal, but i feel like jims formalwear had more choices for vests/ties which is why we’re going with them, they match our girls dresses better. The only problem is neither of these come with a flat front pant option, which looks so much better, especially on thin men. I do wish they had 2 different shades though!

My Fiance is dying to wear a grey suit!!

Since our reception was on a cruise, we didn’t want the attire to be too formal. I originally wanted suit vests without the jacket but the GMs were difficult so we just went with gray suits. My hubby liked their suits so much that he decided to get the same one for himself.
The GMs wore plum colored Kenneth Cole shirts and striped ties that I bought them at Macys. The Best Man wore the same tie but with a rasberry colored shirt and my hubby wore the same shirt as the Best Man but with a plum colored tie. They all wore gray Converse shoes. =0)
Also, we thought it made more sense to buy suits rather than rent so if that’s the route you want to go, I’d got to Burlington Coat Factory or someplace like that. If you’re near NY or northern NJ, I’d recommend Prato Menswear. Our GMs only paid $100 for their suits
As far as our dads go, we both let them buy their own suits and just asked them to get a charcoal gray so that their suits would be a little different than the GMs.
I don’t have any great pics (the guys were a little too energetic to pose properly) but here are a few for your reference.
Hope this helps! Good luck and Congrats!

for my moh’s wedding, all the guys wore grey. it was outdoors in may, so there were no jackets. the groom wore a vest and the groomsmen did not, so that’s how he stood out.
