Well it is very pretty whatever it is! I think it may be an amethyst , they are often pink rather than purple.

Do you know approximately when she bought it?  It reminds me of the “Pink Ice” rings that were fairly popular in the late 80s/90s.  Basically, it’s pink colored CZ.  They were most often set in 10/14Kt gold, and they would’ve been around the price range you mention above.  It’s very pretty By The Way.

@lulubelle2017: glad I could help!  I had one in an oval filagree setting that I wore often when I was in high school.  I loved its vivid baby pink color.  Seeing your pretty piece makes me want to pull mine out again. smile

@lulubelle2017:  could be! My mom would alwayzzz order jewelry from the t.v. when I was young, so I know it is hard to tell materials since they seem to come in every color! I have a cheap diamond tester I got on Amazon, and it will test for corundum ..so if you get a hit, it could be a lab sapphire
