Well you are going to find a deal by having it in the offseason- so good job 🙂 I found that catering websites are very helpful in finding affordable venues, aka ones that are not married to a caterer and ask for an outrageous food minimum. I think all caterers are more than willing to do their best to find you a venue in order to get your business.

Try looking at places other than hotels and restaurants such as museums, libraries, community centers, elks lodges, colleges, churches, aquariums etc.

Food will doubtless be your highest cost, so try starting with caterers, find the cheapest one and then ask them to find you a venue.

Can I ask you what your budget is? “Reasonably priced” varies so much. Also, are you specifically looking for downtown Detroit or suburbs?

I looked at a lot of venues in Detroit for my wedding and there are a lot of great options. However, I found that the “nice” ones you are describing definitely don’t come cheap. I even looked at renting loft space in the city but after you rent tables, chairs, linens…etc, it became very expensive.

What other things are important to you?

@CanAmBride: Yea we checked out some loft spaces too and it would have been way too expensive.

We went with Arnaldos Banquet Center in Riverveiw (downriver). Not exactly a city feel but a beautiful place and very reasonably priced. And they have great deals for Jan- March.

@lmickevicius:  I’ll take a look.  It sounds like you are looking for a modern place?  For how many people?
