@tksjewelry: Haha join the club. My history degree is worth diddly squat unless I want to go to grad school.

@tksjewelry: I know..sooo depressing! I was double majoring in Bio too, but dropped it because I wanted to graduate ASAP. What a mistake THAT was..

I graduated undergrad with a history BA with a minor in art history. I can’t believe that this year marks 10 years since. I got an MA in public history. So, lots of history here!

@MsNarwhal:  In all the campaigns I have worked, the only person that asked me for a copy of my degree was for security clearance, and my employer was only allowed to know my security level.  I could have done every single job that I have ever worked without my degree, with just my hard work alone.

Me! Me!

I thought I would be done with anthro once I graduate but my thesis proposals so far for grad school personal statements have been looking at the relationship of structure and function of churches which kind of mushes all my areas of focus together except for military history (haven’t figured that one out yet)

@galloway111: You’ll definitely do well to try to get a master’s degree — you’ll be way more competitive and come in at a higher pay grade, especially if the museum is one linked to the government. There are some great programs out there, too.

Does art history count? πŸ™‚ I absolutely love my major! I’m gonna go all the way and get a Ph.D. because I love it that much. Hopefull I’ll end up as a professor or doing museum work, or both! Yay for history πŸ˜€

Galloway, I seem to be running into you everywhere today! lol

I’m getting my honours BA with a history major and psychology minor.  My school doesn’t require you to pick a concentration, but my primary interest is the two world wars and the inter-war years.  Since I plan on being a high school history teacher, I need to have the equivalent of two full-year Canadian history courses as well.

I was originally a psych major and history minor.  It was interesting and I did well in some aspects of it, but I accepted that there was no way I was doing two full year science credits.  I mean, my last science course was Grade 11 bio in the first semester of that year, so even with my science-y SO that wasn’t happening.  (I did somehow get an A+ in neuropscyhology though, which thrilled me when the profs are apparently supposed to aim for a class average of 65% (a “C” in Canada).)
