I’m trying to get my bridesmaids things they will actually use, so I’m avoiding getting them jewelry or something like that because I’m afraid I’ll pick out something they won’t actually wear. One of my bridesmaids just graduated and got her first job as a teacher! She will be teaching first grade and starts her job two days after my wedding. Any ideas on what a new teacher might need/want? I found these personalized mug sleeves on Etsy that I thought she might like: https://www.etsy.com/listing/198722475/pencil-coffee-cup-sleeve-with-teachers?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=mug%20sleeve%20teacher&ref=sc_gallery_3&plkey=4c39613e51fb49c8ddd80b791bc5a9ad40d34e0f:198722475
Still looking for other ideas though! 🙂

What about a nice lunch bag? Or a “work bag” aka big purse.

a teachers emergancy kit. I reccived it as a graduation present. Conatins small things like hygien products, coffemugg, mini makeup kit and hairbrush, photos and lots of cute small things like gold stars and pencils.

When I was a new teacher, I would have loved a nice planner, calendar or something that said “Ms. Kishi” on it.

I second this! I was going to say the same thing! Plus air freshener and Lysol!
…also I like the PPs recommendation to get her bag where she can tote around her supplies.. Mine is from thirty one bags and its monogrammed and I love it!
Heres the link

If you’re looking for a teacher bag, I would consider a bag of suitcase on wheels! I’m starting my second semester teaching college biology, and I’ve seen plenty of professors carrying their lesson plans, papers, and other supplies in rolling bags. After carrying a crappy shoulder bag for several months, I’m seriously considering getting one too!

Maybe a nice agenda/organizer for meetings? A gift card to The Limited or a place that sells work clothes.

As a teacher, I know it’s less “personal,” but I would totally love a gift card to a place where I can buy all kinds of things for teaching, like Target. I wouldn’t want someone to buy me a nice planner or bag because I’m picky about those and wouldn’t want someone else to choose something so specific for me.
Maybe an etsy gift card with the intention of her choosing a teacher planner from Plum Paper? They’re customizable with extra sections and stuff depending on your preferences! That way it’s still a specific gift, but she gets to make sure it fits her needs.

I agree. I am really particular about choosing things for my classroom. I would love a giftcard because I would hate if someone got me a planner that didn’t really work for what I needed.
Or alcohol. That would be an appropriate gift!

A plum planner teacher’s edition would be fun. And alcohol. Seriously though with my first year of teaching I probably spent $3k of my own money so a gift card would be much appreciated I am sure.

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one to think “alcohol”.
I was going to suggest a tote bag or a nice lunch box as well. I think that the rolling bags or rolling crates are a lot more sensible, but if your Bridesmaid or Best Man is like most new teachers I know – she is going to want a “cute” bag like a nice tote rather than sensible right now. Veteran teachers? Sensible, lol. I personally love my Vera Bradley tote for my school stuff. A laptop bag would be cute as well.
Definitely no coffe cups, mugs, water cups, etc. Every teacher I know gets like 10 of these gifted a year.

Teacher here! Alcohol, gift cards, and/or chocolate!

Teacher here too — seriously we LOVE office supplies. Think cute stickers, fun colored pens, bulletin board supplies, post its, 3 ring binders, office organization type things…I LOVE THAT STUFF. You could also do a coffee gift. Lord knows how much coffee I consumed my first year teaching. Cute travel mug, fancy coffee, etc.

I think it’d be awesome to be gifted a “new job” type present as suggested above, but not as my bridesmaid gift! Unless everyone else’s gifts are also geared toward their jobs, it seems weird that hers would be. Maybe she’d like something to relax with instead, which could go both ways – a spa type gift or after work snacks/book/music.

We bought one of our friends this “Teacher’s Little Helper” wine glass for Christmas and she loved it.
