I’m undecided as to whether or not I actually love these hairpieces from etsy (dolorispetunia). They run around $400 each, and thats a huge investment, even if I were completely in love with it.
I’m pretty crafty, but am not sure what kinds of rhinestones/crystals to buy, and if you guys think that these are all crystals, or if there’s something else at work here (ie. pearls, etc.). And do you thnk the rhinestone/crystals have a backing on them? And the best way to attach them? I’m thinking glue…
Clearly she’s put them on tulle, but do you think it would need a lace applique under the stones, then attach everything to the tulle?
I’d like to make mine slightly less large, and have the tulle be a little less noticeable, or maybe use ribbon to tie it instead.
There are obviously silk petals on the end, but I’d like some input as to the other components of the piece.
I particularly love the last photo. <3
Lastly, and unrelated to the DIY aspect of this, do you think the hairpiece would go with either of these (tentative) hairstyles?

@DDG84: That hairpiece is on etsy. I’ve looked for others as well, but they’re not quite as special as the one in the photo. I love DIYing also, and wouldn’t mind giving it a shot, I’m just not quite sure on the stones and such to buy…

@multinational: YES– SOOO easy– looks like this just bought an applique from this site I posted below and sewed (but you can just as easily GLUE) it to tool.
This is super cheap and will cost you under $30 (easily..)

@tampalove35: I was going to write the same thing! She could sew an applique onto some ribbon or netting.
I diy’d my garter with an applique I bought from http://www.shinetrim.com/appliques/rhinestone-crystal
Also, I think the first hair pic would look best, judging by the other pics you posted. But the bun could look nice also.

Here’s a tutorial for a crystal and tulle necklace that seems really similar in consturction to your headband:
