@BoiledPNut:  I’m not an expert at ALL, but I spent a ton of time on the phone with our insurance company re: maternity coverage.

My best advice, for whatever it is, is to take notes when you talk to them, and keep every single bill to double check how you get billed.  A simple extra zero in medical coding can mean thousands of dollars in errors.

Not that i know that from experience or anything.  Ugh.

Why don’t you set up a login and password for your i nsurance company. Your medical card can have a website that lists all of your benefits. You just need to set it up.

I’d just call them.

I work as a Benefits Rep for my company – I can try to answer any generic questions you might have about how deductibles…out of pockets…etc work.. ๐Ÿ™‚

What are your questions?  We can’t try and answer if we don’t know what they are…..

Also – what kind of plan do you have??? HMO, PPO etc.  that’s helpful info.

What conversations did you have with insurance that wasn’t helpful…..

That info would make it easier for us to help you.  All insurance is different, so just because we both have PPO PLans with BCBS, our maternity coverage might be COMPLETELY Different.  So, as pp have said….. the BEST way to get answers is to call them and ask questions.  Don’t get off the phone until you understand.  It’s their JOB to talk to you…. that’s why they are called “Customer service reps”.
