I’m not wearing a bra with my dress (I have pretty small boobs that luckily don’t need much support), but these sticky nipple cover things: http://www.amazon.com/Nippies-Skin-Reusable-Silicone-ADHESIVE/dp/B001PU9A9Q/ref=cm_lmf_tit_4
I haven’t tried it on with the dress yet, but the seamstress said that she’s altered the dress a number of times and that’s what all her brides wore and got away with. By the way, I did find a seamstress who seemed to have no problem pulling the dress from the top and making it fit. My second fitting is in two weeks though so I’ll keep you posted on how that goes!
Dentelle is beautiful!! I’m pretty sure if it was around when I was shopping (about two months before the 2013 collection came out), I would have ordered that as it does seem easier to wear. Wish me luck hauling my train around!!
P.S. Apropos of nothing, we are going to France on our honeymoon! I love it there and am so excited!!
I have no idea what i will do about a bra either, my dress is low back, and low v neck so hopefully the sewn in cups will provide enough support or i dont know what ill do.
Oh you lovely ladies are so enthusiastic! It’s so nice to chat on here as I worry I’m boring my friends to tears and I also think they might think I’m crazy even considering paying 300€ for a head dress!
@lightmist the lady at my shop doesn’t like cups so that’s a worry. I tried one of those stick on backless bras but they are not great. Looking for a really low back bustier.
@RexManningDay yes, my lady seems cool with it too, only problem with the dentelle is that it could make it a little short. Let me know how it goes. I cant believe you have your second fitting already – my dress doesn’t arrive until the 1st June!! What is your honeymoon route? Paris I hope!
@Mu_t yes, let’s shares bra research! No pics but might sneak out of work this week to buy my shoos and then I’ll post them!
goodnight from Paris!
I feel like I need to see these Jimmy Choo’s in person because they look awesome! With Luna being covered in crystals, and since I am having a crystal headpiece made, maybe I shouldn’t get sparkly shoes…but I can’t help it. Everything else seems so boring.
What about convertible bras? The kind that you can put all the straps all definitely ways? Maybe one with clear straps?
I think those Choos would be perfect. My wedding shoes are the same fabric (actually a combination of champagne and silver) and they are reallu sparkly in real life. But your dress is simple enough to have both a sparkly headpiece and shoes, in my opinion!
These are mine, in that same sparkly leather.
I’ll probably turn the juliet veil into a drop veil that I’ll just comb into my updo. But, to be honest, I’m very sad about it. I really loved that veil the way it was.
Here are my two new inspiration pics that I’m mulling over. Unfortunately, I can’t do another hair trial so I’ll just have to wing it the day of and hope I don’t hate it in every photo!
I like thie one, but I think it might be too modern?
I don’t mind that it’s a bit modern, but then again I always feel like with a vintage gown/accessories it’s sometimes nice to juxtapose with a non-vintage hairstyle/makeup look. Or at least not totally vintage. I have a natural wariness towards looking like one just stepped out of a period drama, though.
You sure you can’t do loose, 40s Hollywood waves with your dress? Maybe pinned to one side? I don’t know whether you should force yourself to go with an updo if you don’t want to…I think Jessica Chastain’s hairstyle from the Oscars would look really gorgeous.
I really would like to show off the back of my dress. And, truth be told, my hair doesn’t hold curls very well so I know that a sideswept look — as much as I love it — would look like a mess probably about an hour in. But I agree with you on Jessica Chastain’s look. I love that look! But I’ve had everyone from my sister to the hairstylist talk me out of it.
Stupid limp, fine, crap hair: the bane of my existence!
@RexManningDay So I agree that you need a bit more volume…it looks a bit ‘strict’ as we say in French. I think something a little more whimsical…what about something like this:
It is not exactly up, but not exactly down…it could work?
@peonyinparis But we love the Swiss Switzerland is beautiful, but you can’t really compare the vibe of Geneva to that of Paris…
I love your Jimmy Choos, think they are fabulous, but I can’t wear anything above a 9.5cm heel or dress will be too short (not sure what that is in inches).
I went to buy the shoes yesterday and….I didn’t like them! They weren’t comfortable. I loved the colour, and the shape, but the peep toe squidged my toes like sausages and didn’t help me with my feet complex…so now I’m on the look out, here are some options:
