My husband and I are in the middle of watching ROTK right now, funnily enough. I love it!

ETA: My favorite Character is Pippin … or Elrond.

I love LOTR! And I really loved the Hobbit too! Have watched it about 20 times so far!

ETA: in LOTR my favourite is Arwen, Gimli or Legolas. In The Hobbit my favourites are Balin, Fili  and Kili

@cherriesandcream:  YES!!! But movies only (I cannot mix movies and books it always ruins it for me!) And I’m pretty sure Legolas wins cause he’s dreamy.

Ok fine, if we’re talking about the character and not the dreamy actor…my fave would be Gimli cause he tries so hard to be so tough!

I’ve been a Tolkien fan since before I could even read – my dad would read from The Hobbit and LOTR at bedtime. I thought the movies were better than I could have imagined they’d be, and The Hobbit movie thus far is not QUITE as amazing but still great and tons of fun to watch.

It’d hard to choose favorite characters… but from LOTR, Faramir is probably my favorite. I love his whole story, with his brother. I think he’s one of the most complex and well-written, his history is so heart-wrenching and I like that he ends up in a romantic sub-plot with Eowyn, who is another favorite. 🙂

@Bebealways:  Agreed, he is my second favourite character as he is soo complex!  I did not like how he was portrayed in the movie though =/

@Ettalie:  Yeah, Faramir was one of my few disappointments… I had liked the contrast between how Boromir was glorified, but his first urges were to do something wrong that could easily ruin everything vs. Faramir who was treated like crap his whole life and told he was stupid and worthless but still surrendered his desire for “glory” to choose the right thing. Kind of messed that up in the movie… I like who they chose for him though, the actor is good.

I did laugh out loud in the theater though when Sam said “we aren’t even supposed to be here!!!” Like… no kidding hahaha.

I love LOTR!  I am a complete geek and went to a marathon of the LOTR movies before the first Hobbit came out!

I can’t wait to see all the Simaliron backstory added into the next two movies, I haven’t had a chance to read it!

Aww yay! I’m a huuuuge Tolkien fan!

Like to the point that I ran a Tolkien fansite for a while. And got my friends into it so we could write silly collaborative fanfiction and make jokes about hobbits. And I learned some Elvish. And dressed up for the premiere of ROTK. So… yeah.

Favorite character = GANDALF 4 LYFE

I cried when I read the part in FOTR where Gandalf dies. And then when I read the part in TT where Aragorn & co encounter some weirdo in the woods, I KNEW it was somehow Gandalf again, I skipped ahead to find his name and verify that he came back, and then I was psycho manic happy for the rest of the day. My parents were like, what has gotten into you, and I was like, GANDALF IS BACK *seizure of glee*

My SO likes the Hobbit better than LOTR (weirdo) so we’re very stoked for the next movie. I really enjoyed the first Hobbit movie, but I don’t think any of them will be able to top ROTK for me.

@Bebealways:  Have you seen the extended versions? They do Faramir a bit more justice there but he still isn’t as complex as he should be. If they could make the hobbit into 3 movies they should have made LOTR at least 6 if not 9. But Fiance pointed out there wouldn’t be many of us watching it if it were that long.

We are both big fans. We are naming one of our tables ‘Smaug’ Smile (They are all going to be named after dragons)

Think I need to re-read the book before the next movie comes out.
