Has anyone already steamed/pressed their VW351043 Vera Wang White wedding gown? It is silk taffeta, and my seamstress is telling me she can’t get the bottom ruffles wrinkle free. Did anyone else have this issue? Do you have any wedding day pics to share? Thanks!!!
*a private seamstress is doiong my alteration in her professional shop. David’s Bridal’s alterations were TOO expensive. That being said: I don’t know if I can take the dress back to DB for steaming since I didn’t have my alterations done with them.
These pics were taken after my 1st fitting…

Due to the nature of the fabric it will not be wrinkle free.

Until three days ago, that was my dress! (loooong story)
To the best of my knowledge, DB will not do the steaming for you if you’ve had alterations done elsewhere.
Taffeta is tricky. It’s one of the mony things that I ended up not liking about that dress after I bought it. I loved the pleats and how crisp they were in the model pics and told myself that after steam, my wrinkled dress owuld look like that too. It’s not necessarily going to happen. When taffeta gets pressed into a shape, it will hold that shape – until you sit on it and press it into ANOTHER shape.
After you get it steamed, be very careful putting it away. Consider using a dressmaker’s dummy to keep the shape and have the skirt hanging naturally with the pleats in place until the big day. Dress at the venue, not at home. Have a bridesmaid practice some skills with a little steamer wand just in case.
It’s a gorgeous dress and you look wonderful in it! It wasn’t for me in the end, but I love seeing people rock that gown :o)
