My last period was 2 days. Typically they were 2 days, gone for a day then came back for a day sometimes two then it would be over. We were not TTC but it happened. My cycle was also never regular, as short at 27 days others as long as 34 days.  I had been off BCP for a year when we got pregnant. Went off to give my body a break after 10 years but we still used condoms religiously for about 10 months. Then in Oct/Nov used pullout and condoms and tried to avoid sex the week i though I was ovulating. Guess I was wrong about that.

On the pill it came at regular intervals and was usually about 3-4days but without the weird break in the middle. I hope it helps.

zoey0317 :  Do you temp? If if you do, you can figure out how long your luteal phase (time from when you ovulate to your next period). This is also when your lining gets built up. I believe anything less than 10 days would be too short. I don’t personally have short periods , but I know plenty of ladies do and there are usually ways to lengthen it. I think a lot of women use progesterone. Obviously, this is something you’d want to talk to a doctor about, but maybe the first step is temping.

I had 3 day periods before I had my daughter. I got pregnant on cycle # 2. First cycle we were just not preventing. 2nd cycle I used an ovulation tester. I’ve never been a big bleeder. My postpartum bleeding was lighter than it is for most women too. As far as I know, there’s nothing wrong with me. My periods are now 6 days long, but not heavier. They just linger.

Yep, mine were only 2.5 days for YEARS (at least ever since I went off the pill around 29). My hormone levels were fine but I maaay have mild DOR (diminished ovarian reserve). I don’t know if those things would be related — DOR and shorter periods. No doctor told me they were. It took us 12 months (14 cycles) and I conceived at 36 on our 3rd IUI.

zoey0317 :  I had super short (2-3 days) periods after coming off BCP. I had a CP our 6th cycle TTC and then after another 6 cycles sought help from the RE. I have seriously bad DOR, which resulted in us doing 6 IUI cycles. I got pregnant again on the 3rd, but lost that in an early miscarriage. 2 IVF retrievals later, we went for our first tranfer and I didn’t respond well to the synthetic hormones. I had always had a thin lining, but this was dismal. That transfer was unsuccessful as well. I’m currently almost 13 weeks with our second IVF transfer – which needed 3 types of estrogen, a blood thinner, viagra, Vitamin E, PIO and endometrin suppositories to get me the lining thickness I needed.

Anyway, my personal experience is that the thin lining and short period was due to hormones and my DOR – and most likely a blood flow issue which was helped with the viagra and blood thinners. I really struggled and we TTC for nearly 3 years. I absolutely believe that my CP, MC and failed transfer were due to lining issues.

zoey0317 :  I always had short, light periods. have you had your thyroid checked? I did have some trouble (2 miscarriages over a year and a half ) but when I went for testing, everything going was normal.

zoey0317 :  During my IUI cycles the highest it ever got was 6.6mm – that was also the pregnancy I lost around 6.5 weeks. The majority of the other IUI or TI/medicated cycles it was steadily under 6mm, and they always had me take extra estrogen suppositories to hopefully thicken it between scans and ovulation. During IVF my lining fluctuated, it got as high as 9 but then two days later it would “fall” and measure around 7mm with fluid in my cervix. (We never did a fresh transfer because we did back to back retrievals).

When I did my first FET, I was on estrogen suppositories 3x/day and 3 estrogen patches daily. My first lining check after 13 days of this measured 5.3mm, they added in injectable estrogen and I got up to 6.7mm – my RE went ahead with a transfer because she said as long as it has the trilaminar pattern, that is more important than the measurement. It was unsuccessful and I only bled for mayyyybe 2 days at the most.

Our second (most recent/successful) transfer – like I said I added viagra, a blood thinner, 1000iu of vitamin E and all 3 types of estrogen. My first lining scan after 12 days of these meds, my lining was a pathetic 5.2mm. I was ready to quit and just reassess after the holidays. My RE had me do a double dose of my IM injection early and come back in two days. Turns out that was what I needed all along, my lining shot up to 8.2mm and we transferred. First time I have made it past the 6 week mark and I’m currently 13 weeks pregnant. Still don’t feel out of the woods but I really truly now believe that in addition to my shitty eggs, my lining played a HUGE part in all of our struggles with loss.

zoey0317 :  FWIW my thyroid always was under 2.5 and not an issue with our problems/my lining.

Following – I have 2-3 day periods since coming off BC 2 years ago. the last day is usually super spotty. We have been officially TTC for 7 cycles. I’ve scheduled a doctor’s appointment to see if she’ll do some prelim testing. I wasn’t aware this could be a potential issue!
