zoey0317 :  Do you have spotting before or particularly heavy periods those 2-3 days? Clotting? It’s possible it is all coming out – but also that your body isn’t shedding everything either. Have you had a baseline scan to see what your lining measures day 2-3 of your cycle? If it gets below 3mm, then I would definitely be concerned about where the blood is going. If it stays up around 5-6mm, then it’s possible you just don’t shed everything before hormones surge and prepare for ovulation.

zoey0317 :  I always had very short periods. They lasted about 2 days. I used light tampons only (the teen ones). I used to joke I should forget about tampons and just use a kleenex or two. My periods were also very regular – I could time them to the hour they would start (almost always started at noon on day 29).

I got pregnant after having sex only once the month I stopped taking birth control. I had been on BCP for 10 years – I assumed incorrectly that I’d need a few months for my hrmones to get back to normal. My husband was working out of the province, so I flew out to visit him one weekend. Thus, I know exactly when I got pregnant.

zoey0317 :  I also had a lot of spotting, usually 3 days before but sometimes more. I never needed more than light tampons and literally could use one for the entire 8 hours without leakage. (and if I had a 3 day period, it was long). It’s possible that you are losing more of your lining than you know with the spotting. I would ask for a baseline scan to see what you measure – I always knew that I stopped bleeding around 3mm and then it was clear that my lack of growth was what caused the short periods.

zoey0317 :  You sound exactly like me. Do you get bad cramps? The thing that freaks me out the most is that I get debilitating cramps, sometimes so bad I can’t get out of bed. I always brace for the worst thinking it will be a heavy period, and then I get a light flow for 2-3 days. It doesn’t make sense. I have wondered in the past if I could have some form of endo, but I know it can be hard to diagnose. I will definitely ask my GP what she thinks on the 24th.

Mine normallly is 3 days total, but heavy for those  3 days. I’m actually pregnant with my first now (8 weeks whoohoo!!) and we were extremely lucky and conceived the first month of trying.

This is me now after my loss in September! I was on birth control for 8 years, went off, pregnant that first month and then a loss at 22 weeks in September. My first period after was 6 days and heavy. Since then it’s been 3 days with the 4th being spotty! It was always 5 days before when I was on birth control.

My doctor isn’t concerned at all and said it shouldn’t be an issue and I’ll regulate eventually and maybe this is my normal. It’s just really frustrating. And of course Dr. Google terrifies you when you start to look and it says about hormonal imbalances and such. I’m going onto my third month TTC which is really nothing but yeah… TTC leaves you in a weird head space!

SundayKat :  I used to get really bad cramps as a teen. I found birth control pills helped a lot. I was greatly relieved the cramps stopped on the pill!

one thing I did find was the childbirth was about as bad as the menstruatal cramps I got as a teen. I went through natural childbirth with no painkillers or epidural. I was surprised that the pain wasn’t all that bad! If you’ve been through really bad cramps, just know that’s pretty much about as bad as it gets (except when the head emerges – that’s a moment you’ll never forget!)

zoey0317 :  I would ask your doctor but to me, baseline has always been below 4mm so it sounds like you aren’t shedding it all.
