Tagging this because we’re doing this same in September.  But do a search and you’ll see lots of reviews on here (mostly good 🙂

@shrinkgirl:  we toured Manhattan Penthouse a few months ago when we were checking out venues. We were really underwhelmed when we went there. The space is really small and not in great shape. The walls and baseboards were scuffed and dirty, and the view is pretty bad for a NYC penthouse.

We had our tasting there a few days ago.  DEFINITELY go for one.  They don’t charge and have a bunch of couples at once so you get to talk to other people getting married there as well as see what the space looks like and sounds like filled with people.

Some of the food we really liked, some not so much.  But the servers were very friendly and I was talking to another couple who said they had gone for 2 tastings, just to get a sense for it and because they wanted to try a broader range of appetizers.

@shrinkgirl:  We haven’t decided about the ceremony bit (Long story…we’re already legally married but I think my dad would love the symbolism and it would be great to do something in front of our friends and family.)

I asked and there is no extra cost for setting up chairs for a ceremony.  The one thing about it is it does make it more convenient for guests (only having to go to one place.)

Also…I was on another thread and found this – I thought the windows looked familiar!

@shrinkgirl:  Ah!  You guys were there last night too?  We went back for a 2nd tasting (they charge for it, but that’s ok.)  We were the couple sitting at the table for 3, towards the back of the room (there were only 2 of us.)  I was the one looking really stressed out since I was in the middle of a work crisis.

I’ll PM you with more specifics.

@shrinkgirl:

We loved the filet mignon and sea bass entrees.

Our favorite apps: tequila shrimp, seared tuna, beef skewers, avocado salad.

@shrinkgirl:

For appetiziers the seared tuna was also good (but we just decided to do 2 meat, 2 seafood and 2 veg).  We haven’t tried everything but figured who could go wrong with bacon wrapped dates

We had the filet at our first tasting.  Darling Husband didn’t like it because he said it was tough (I don’t even eat red meat so totally depending on him.) Same with the beef skewers, he said the lamb was much better.

Honestly the sea bass was SO good. Buttery and super tasty 🙂

I know what you mean about the tart.  Hoping that having the salad makes it ok!

What are you doing after your reception? We decided after a long and lengthy discussion (like, months long) to just rent a suite in our hotel and continue the party there.
