I’m writing this post in hopes of finding someone else that felt the same way. I had a trial done for hair and makeup and looking at my pictures I felt that it wasn’t as good as my trial, so I did not look the way I wanted to look.
I know what’s done its done but I’m still a little frustrated I guess. The important thing is that I married my best friend.

Looking back at photos, I’m really not happy with the way I looked either. Everyone always looks so beautiful in their wedding pictures, I guess I assumed everyone just looks gorgeous because it’s their wedding day. But not me. I really wasn’t pleased with my hair or makeup, and I didn’t lose as much weight as I wanted to. It just makes me very sad to look back at our wedding photos because I’m so unhappy with the way I looked, and I hate to feel that way.
I try not to dwell on it though. We are our own worst critics, and like you said at the end of the day you married your best friend! I’m sure your husband and everyone at your wedding thought you were beautiful!

Yep! It was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo humid on my wedding day. My hair style fell out and I was all bloaty and hot. My makeup looked good tho! Over time though I’ve gotten over it and Darling Husband keeps telling me I looked beautiful so it doesn’t bother me anymore.

it’s absolutely true that we’re our own worst critics.
that being said, im terrified that i’m going to end up in the same boat as you bees.
don’t you wish you could view yourself through someone else’s eyes?
from just browsing photgraphy online and on the bee, i can count very very few times i’ve seen a bride and thought “she could look better…”
by all means, post pictures so we can tell you that you looked great!!! im sure you did 🙂

Well, I looked exactly how I wanted to for the ceremony. But 5 minutes into taking pictures, the heat killed that. It was 95ºF for our wedding (who would have thought it would be like that, June 4 in Cleveland?) So a lot of our portraits, and all of the reception pictures, I’m sporting what I call the drowned rat look. It didn’t help I was sick, either (sinus infection & ear infection), so I didn’t even feel like fixing myself up. I wish someone would have made me fix my hair, at least!

I fall into this category. I had a trial, but the hair/makeup person cancelled on me the morning of my wedding. She sent two students in her place. One made me cry because she tried my hair (unsuccessfully) five times… and I made her cry because she made me cry. I didn’t like my makeup either– and I didn’t want the darn eyelashes! I felt so horrible. I hated my hair because it fell flat, didn’t hold the curl and all because the right person didn’t it. I loved my trial. It was perfect.
But, in looking at my pro pics, I did look lovely. Not how I had envisioned, but I’ve gotten over it. There were so many things I was disappointed about, I was super happy that my pictures turned out really well.

I’m right there with ya, sister. I got these beautiful extensions which looked AMAZING when they were freshly curled, but by the time we got to the reception (like, 8 hours later) I felt like Kim Kardashian or Miley Cyrus with that ‘too long’ hair. NO BUENO.

I was a bit disappointed in my hair. It was nice but wasnt exactly what i wanted. I felt like my hair dresser rushed me also to get the bridesmaids done in time. Also looking back in pictures my hair was starting to fall out after the ceremony. I didnt notice on my day but it really bothered me after. I did manage to get my photographer to photoshop the fallen pieces. As other people said we are more critical of ourselves.

I wasn’t all that crazy about my hair turned out. It was definitely better than the trial, but I felt it only really looked good from certain angles. Luckily there are a lot of photographs showing it from the best angles, but I still wish I’d been pickier and asked my stylist to tweak a few things.
Although at one point when I was redoing some of the bobby pins in a hallway mirror, my Brother-In-Law walked past and said, “Stop it, you look perfect.” So that was kind of a nice pick-me-up, lol.

I just wrote a post about this….I’m so afraid my hair is going to fall. My hair is always so flat and doesn’t hold UP well, and I want it half up/half down with a lot of volume. She suggested putting in extensions because otherwise I might be disappointed…
But there are so many times I think my makeup is spot on, then in photos I look washed out and exhausted thanks to eye makeup meltdown. Check out my lovely “stoner face” (FH is behind me, and Maid/Matron of Honor is next to me in the pink…. so um, height difference much lol):
And then where the hell did my makeup go??? WTF???

Oh you ladies look beautiful!!! 🙂 With that said, I’m definitely my own worst critic to the tenth power so I understand the criticism.
