Yay, another Downriver bee! I grew up in Lincoln Park but have family in Taylor, Darling Husband and I moved to Monroe a couple of years ago though. And yeah, I totally understand the Heritage Park non-uniqueness. Everyone goes there for prom, homecoming, weddings, etc. Where are you getting married, so I can post suggestions in the same area?

ETA: And confession, I totally facebook stalked to see if we know any of the same people…we do! haha. Just one person, a former co-worker of mine (although I now work with his sister), thought that was kinda funny.

What about heading up to the Dearborn area? Ford field park has a little gazebo and a couple cute wooden bridges.  Henry ford estates also allows photography for a fee.

Meee! But you already bumped into me on another thread 🙂

I’m having the same problem! At this point I’m probably just going to do Heritage Park anyways because it’s conveniently between my ceremony in Southgate and my reception in Lincoln Park, but I honestly don’t know where else we would go anyways that’s not going to be crowded with people out for Labor Day weekend.

@mmr66:  Thanks for suggesting Ford Field park! (even though this isnt my thread, I will be stalking it as well haha)  I’ll have to see if we have time to make it up to the Dearborn area. I wish Henry Ford Estate was still open and free like it used to be :/

I had to check to make sure you weren’t my assistant.  🙂  She’s from Taylor and getting married on Oct. 20.

No suggestions, though – we live in Brighton and got married in Grand Rapids.

We had our engagement pictures in early October last year at Heritage and it wasn’t done up or anything, so I think you should be fine!

@Mrs.Beeloney:  There is a wooden covered bridge, but also over by the ball fields there is a “hidden” bridge that is really pretty for pictures! Also, there is a gazebo.

Me! I’m from Royal Oak and getting married on the west side of the state in Watervliet this month! We traveled and met our photographer in Saline on an orchard. Would you be willing to travel a little further? You can find some great parks and rustic settings if you’re willing to travel a little bit. We also had a friend take some shots at Stoney Creek, lots of different settings there!
