I am currently almost 7 weeks with our second baby and I am terrified about going into pre-term labor again!
Heres some backstory….I had abnormal cells on my cervix and had to have a piece of it removed by way of leep procedure some 15 years ago.
When I got pregnant with my son my OBGYN had me seeing a high risk specialist where I was having vaginal ultrasounds every two weeks to measure my cervix. Everything was great and at 25 weeks they stopped the ultrasounds and said I was good to go! Cervix was long and thick and perfect.
Then about two weeks later, I started to bleed. I was admitted into L&D. When they checked me I was completley thinned and 100% effaced, 2 centimeters dilated and in pre-term labor.
They were able to stop my labor for about 3 days. I stayed in the hospital on bedrest and prayed that I can hold my little guy in for at least 5 more weeks. They wanted to get me to at least 32 weeks. Then on the fourth day (29 weeks gestation) I started to have contractions again. I was moved to L&D and in full blown labor. I stayed there for 24 hours when our son started to become distressed. And of course he was breech…so emergency c-section was our only choice.
An hour later our beautiful baby boy was born! 3lbs 4oz and healthy as an ox! He had to stay in the NICU for 6 weeks but he was never tubed, never needed blood…he was truely a miracle.
So needless to say Im petrified about having the same thing happen with this baby. My OBGYN assured me before becoming pregnant that there are things we can do to get me threw this pregnancy. I have to have estrogen shots once a week, and I have to see a specialist about a cerclage.
Any other bees out there going threw this experience also?? How are you coping?? What kind of advice has your doctor given you??
