I’m traveling from Maryland to Monterey, CA (maybe Carmel) for my wedding in July, 2013 (don’t know how to change the date by my name). Anyone else getting married near there? What are you guys doing? I’m going to do something simple on the beach, probably Carmel beach or Lover’s Point. Right now I’m looking for restaurants to act as my reception venue. It’s difficult from the other side of the country!!! I’m thinking about just flying over there to talk with people face to face instead of through email. Looks like I have a busy year ahead of me!

We are getting married this Friday! Can’t believe it is so close!!!
Our ceremony will be in Carmel, at the Carmel Mission Basilica. The reception is at Pebble Beach. We are having a REALLY small wedding (36 guests have rsvp’d) which is why we can afford this! We are both from Northern California and travel to Carmel about 3-4 times a year for weekend getaways. Carmel is approx. 3.5 to 4 hours away so we consider this a “destination” wedding. (Most guests are coming from either Southern CA or out of state).
I can’t advise on Monterey, but we are having our rehearsal dinner (for 20) at Anton and Michel in Carmel. If you are having a larger wedding, Monterey may be a better choice as most restaurants in Carmel are “boutique” size. I guess the one exception would be Il Fornio (a chain italian restaurant.)
Wish I could be of more assistance. Good luck with the wedding planning!
