Only my second post here on the Bee, but I’ve been wanting to ask this since I saw a similar thread about books 🙂
So, are there any movies that are regarded as ‘classics’ or were highly critically acclaimed, or just are usually the type of movies you love… that you absolutely hated?
I, for one, cannot even sit through a trailer of ‘Schindlers List’, and I truly think that ‘Crash’ (2005 Best Movie Academy Award winner) is one of the worst movies ever made.
So, anyone else? 🙂

I am going to try to ignore your Schindler’s List comment lol.
I will say that I fell asleep during Breakfast at Tiffany’s, I haven’t been able to sit through Miracle on 34th Street, and I can’t stand The Sound of Music. My movie buff college roommate used to hate me lol

“The Notebook”. I didn’t like the premise and I felt it was condoning cheating as long as ~it’s true love!!!111~…. no, you break up first, THEN you get back with an old flame if you must. pff

Bridesmaids. Everyone acts like it’s the be all and end all of comedy but I just hated everything about it.

Ghost. My best friend at the time raved about it and told me it contained one of the most romantic scenes ever! I was not impressed. I just couldn’t get into it.

As a mother I watch a lot of animated films with my kids, and “Up” should have ticked all the boxes for me: animated, poignant, humorous. But I identitifed with the wife (Ellie) and found the first half hour or so just too heartbreaking, so much so that I found it very hard to enjoy the rest, though it had its moments.

@paula1248: Although I did eventually enjoy the film, I cried and cried in that first half an hour! And we nearly didn’t watch the rest – heart-breaking.

We only saw 40mins of the latest “Planet of the Apes” film (a prequel I think?) because I empathised too much with thechimpanzee and there was a cruelty scene.

Love Actually. I LOVE Valentine’s Day and He’s Just Not That Into You but I did not like Love Actually at all!

Drive . . . everyone said how great this movie was and I was just completely bored.
