Hasn’t gotten any replies but i figured i’d chime in…

What are those traditional ones you speak of?

I don’t know the verse off hand but we are using “What God has joined together, no man may separate”

Don’t know if you would be interested in it or not, but Romans 12 is my favorite verse and some parts might be appropriate…

I really, really wanted to use the first part of Ecclesiastes (all is vanity…nothing new under the sun), mostly because I like that it acknowledges that what we’re doing is fleeting in the life span of the world, and by taking part in this tradition we’re playing our roles in perpetuating that cycle. I thought it was appropriate to acknowledge that conflict. And, my MA thesis was on Joyce, I’m a little obsessed with his writing, and it’s a passage he used really well so I wanted a little nod to that (even if my fiance and I are the only ones who catch it).

Anyway, my fiance thinks it’s depressing and not really related to a wedding celebration. He’s supposed to be picking our OT reading (I picked Corinthians for our NT reading), so I’m patiently hoping he’ll come around on it before October.

It has to do with love but I like some of the verses in Song of Solomon :3
