I got put on Lutera last Novemeber because it has a very low dose of estrogen…and other pills with higher doeses make me physically sick. I did great for a while, it controlled my cramps, seemed to control my appetite, and made my periods MUCH shorter.
I began to notice around February, that I’ve become increasingly bi**chier (maybe wedding nerves?), my cramps have gotten worse, and my period has become unpredictable. I take the pills like normal, but will sometimes get my period as early as FOUR DAYS before I end my active pills. Because of this, I’ll now have my period over the wedding. *sigh* I talked to the doc a few times, she says to give it a while more. I’ve given it enough time, I think! She also told me to take two additional weeks of active pills to offset my period being over the wedding. What do you know? It came yesterday…a day early. Grrrrrr.
So, are any other bees on Lutera? What’s your take on it?

I’m taking Lutera.. I’m not sure about mood swings because I’ve been on the BC for so long (4 years or so) but it’s made my periods go away completely (maybe light spotting for a day). My doctor says it’s ok and I don’t mind, but I’m looking forward to getting off after the honeymoon.. I think it does to weird things.

I”m also on Lutera…I haven’t really experienced any problems with it at all, besides slight weight gain and (I think ) decrease in sex drive. It makes my period come exactly on time, and it never lasts longer than the placebo week.
@LilMissSteiggy: it definitely sounds like it’s not working for you. I would try another BC, since they all affect people differently. Good luck with skipping the period on your wedding day–I’m supposed to get mine on my honeymoon but am planning skipping it and going right to the next pack. Hopefully I won’t have too much spotting or anything!

Hmm. Maybe I will have to start looking at other pills…it just makes me nervous, because I get sick from higher-estrogen pills. That’s the whole reason the doc put me on Lutera. I’m still going to continue with my active ones another two weeks as she directed, even though I have my period…in hopes that maybe it’ll change the cycle over my wedding. After I’m through with this pack, I’ll stop in and see what else she can suggest.
@hilsy85–I hope you get lucky and won’t have any spotting issues. I’ll be crossing my fingers for the both of us!
