I am having a Friday wedding September 18,2015 and I can’t wait for it. Some people I told about our wedding always say why are you having a week-day weeding. Wedding in NJ can be very pricey but having a Thursday or Friday wedding will cut the price by a lot. Saturday wedding are very very expensive and also a Sunday weeding is not expensive also. Are any of you bees having a Friday or a week-day wedding ?

We had a Friday wedding. The price wasn’t the concern, but my side was all coming from out of town so that gave them the weekend at the beach before going home. It really worked out well. We started at 7:00pm, so no one local had to take time off from work, and we went to 11pm then everyone came back to our house.
My cousin got married in NY on a Friday because of the cost. It worked out perfect, people that were coming out of town took off Friday anyway, and the reception venue was 1/2 the price. It will work out fine 😀

I’m having a Friday wedding in June of this year! I wish we were getting a little discount, but it’s just because the venue we loved was so booked through the summer every Saturday and we were in a bit of a time crunch. No one has asked about the Friday date and since many of our guests are coming from out of town, most don’t seem to mind taking a day or two off. I guess it doesn’t hurt that the wedding is in a really cute California coast town not far from San Francisco and many of our friends are looking at it as a nice little vacation (some are even making a week of it!).

I live in the same region as you and I’ve been to plenty of Friday and Sunday weddings. It’s very common when the price starts rising.

We had a Friday wedding, and it was no problem.

I’m having a friday wedding too..on Aug 21, 2015. I also live in NYC so simillar to NJ the price difference betwen friday and Saturday was just too crazy. I think Friday works perfect because my biggest concern was that I did not want people to leave the wedding because they had work the next day so having it on a friday I get the best of both worlds..

Chaedra: We’re having a Sunday (evening) wedding so a little different also! However it is becoming quite common where we live and we saved about $5K on our reception food/drinks by having a sunday rather than saturday! I’ve been to weddings on different days of the week and it has never made a difference!
I actually really like the idea of a Friday wedding – I think it’s fun! And seriously who doesn’t love an excuse to take a day off work lol

We are having a Friday wedding. We initally wanted the Saturday after the day we ended up booking but the venue we chose was booked that day and almost every saturday for the next year after. The venue offered a discount for doing the wedding on a Friday as well.

Chaedra: im a friday bee also! we saved around 6k just by doing it on a friday and it also means our out of town guests have the whole weekend here too!

Another Friday Bee here! We are saving a little over 3k by doing it on a Saturday. I really wanted a Saturday but the venue was booked for every Saturday during the summer months and I didn’t want to do fall since I have a lot of OTG traveling with school age kids.

Chaedra: i’m having a Friday wedding – and im from Jersey too! Not only was Friday cheaper but the minimum person count on a Friday was 75 as opposed to 150 for a Saturday. we are probably having 120 and i couldn’t stand the idea of paying for 30 people who weren’t there!!! Im happy about choosing a Friday, and so far, my guests dont care. They say : “Cool! i love an excuse to take off work on a Friday”. Also, who doesn’t want a 2 days recovery period afterwards . hehe

Chaedra: NY bee here! I had a Friday wedding. It didn’t save me any on the catering but here and there there were some discounts. I did it because of availability of the venue.

We were originally going to have a Friday wedding but ended up changing it to a Saturday. Quite a few guests on our list all work at the same place and it would be likely that most would not be able to make it on the Friday. It would have been cheaper which is what we wanted but to optimize the chances of having all guests make it, we changed the date.

My fiance and I are planning a Friday wedding too! Live in CT which is also an expensive area. And we also just can’t meet the minimum of 150 people on a Saturday night that most venues have.
We’ve gotten sooo much attitude from people about having a Friday wedding! I get it’s less traditional but the way I look at it -if you want to be there you’ll be there regardless of what day it is!

I’m having a Saturday wedding, but wouldn’t mind going to a Friday night wedding. It’s becoming pretty common in this area. I live in NJ too and the price difference is just like everyone said: $7000 more to have it on Saturday.
