I’ve been looking into hairstyles for my wedding, and I’m coming across a lot of curly ‘dos. As beautiful as they are, I’m kind of getting tired of seeing the same tight curls. I tend to go for curls when I’m going out anyway. To do something a little different for my wedding, an old Hollywood style seems like a good option. I’ll still have shape to my hair, but the “curls” would be bigger and softer (I guess “waves” would be a better word). As of right now, I’m leaning more toward an old hollywood updo even though I enjoy seeing long, flowy hair… I was wondering if anyone would like to share any pictures of that kind of hairstyle (up or down)? Or maybe some websites/favorite youtube hair tutorials?

That’s the style I went with- my hairdresser used a curling iron, then let the rolls sit while I was getting my makeup done, and brushed it out.

I think that the updo that this bride did was gorgeous. Very Old Hollywood glamour.

I did an old 40s hollywood look! But in my trial I learned that my face doesn’t look good with the traditional staple of the square looking swept bangs, so I layed my bangs down, but still had the traditional pin curl look.

Wow! Thank you for the pictures, everyone! Being able to see non-red carpet looks (google/bing images) helps. I love the elegant updos. I’ll probably have to go through a trial run too, since I prefer a softer fringe like AnnieAAA’s hair.
emredhead76, her hair is gorgeous! I’ll probably need extensions to recreate that look though :p
MsVoyageur, I like how the hair is pulled back in the first photo, since I tend to have my hair pulled back on most days. I’m hoping at least the front part of this style would work with my dress/wedding theme.
rebwana, your hair is absolutely gorgeous! I looove the softer fringe with waves/curls in the back.
