Ukulele4You:  Thank you for posting that! I don’t think I’ve ever seen her ring, and they are very similar. It’s interesting how Princess Diana, Sarah Duchess of of York and Princess Anne had/ have coloured gemstone rings. Certainly almost all my mother’s generation did too. The dominance of diamond only engagement rings is a recent thing I think.

jcent:  *swoon*  your ring is incredible! Is your diamond from good old gold?  I love the French cuts! Would you share some details on your ring?

howdoyoudo:  I absolutely love your ring! I wonder if it’s a similiar vintage to mine. Like with your ring, it’s hard to get a really good photo of mine.

I love OMCs! They’re so special. I don’t have one, but I drool over them. I wish someone would start hand cutting some OMC moissys…

Centre stone is a rectangular OMC/antique cushion (some people today use these terms interchangeably, but they did not call cushions “antique cushions” back then, and basically OMCs evolved over a lot of time as cutting techniques and lighting changed, and some are much more rustic in appearance than others). It has the lovely open culet, small table, high crown.

The halo and sidestones are also OMCs. The stones in the halo are about 15 pointers. They may be small, but when my ring is upside down (it is open under the basket) I can still see their little teeny culets and chunky bottoms! The sidestones are about 2-3 pointers.

I like both OMCs and OECs, but if you put a pretty, fiery, chunky OMC in front of me next to a pretty, flowery, bright OEC and told me I could only have ONE of them forever and ever, I am quite positive I would choose the OMC. There is just something about that rustic chunk and history that tickles my fancy 🙂

RayKay:  Thank you!! It’s either 1920’s/early 30’s. The craftmanship is unbelievable…so intricate!  Yours is beautiful as well!

a11ieny:  That is one of my favourite periods for jewelry, not only because of the artistic craftmanship, but because there are some truly one-of-a-kind pieces (like yours) out there. I have a couple of Art Deco rings, including one I just received earlier this week that just amazes me with the intricate detail. Enjoy your ring, it is a wonderful, wearable piece of art, for sure.

RayKay:  I love, love, love your ring!!! …and everyone else’s here for that matter!

Here’s a ring with 5 OMC diamonds that my BF gave me. It was his Grandma’s wedding ring. I love it!!
