I got mine in November 2014. I started bleeding December 2014, and it continued 24/7 until September 2015, when my doctor pit me on NuvaRing too… I had the mini pill for a few months, but it did nothing. I wouldn’t say that it was a true, heavy period, but it was definitely a moderate amount to where I was using tampons 24/7 (Which is why we tried the nuvaring). Ii haven’t tried coming off the nuvaring yet to see where I’m at with the impalanon. Another downside is that I have literally zero sex drive, which started about two months after I got it- no initiation on my part, no spontaneous urges, sometimes even dread the thought of having to get going- but we do, I enjoy it. The only reason I haven’t gotten it removed yet is cause I’m really pleased with the no-pregnancy part!

I was Implanon for 2 years. I did not have any discharge. Like you – I wanted something more reliable than a pill everyday. I like doctor administered birth control becaue the effectivity rate is way higher!! Too much human error if you leave it up to me.
The first year was fine. I don’t remember any cramping or odd period issues.
The second year was HORRIBLE! I know it shouldn’t be that way, but it was. I had crazy mood swings, severe anxiety and I got the point where I was inventing fights with my Boyfriend or Best Friend (now he’s my DH) that never happened but I’d be mad in real life as if they had. It was insane. SO I had it taken out a year early. I never had it for all 3 years.
Currently I’m back on the pill but I don’t love it. I’m a tad old for depo shots, and for some reason I never quite grasped the “ring” one? But I would totally give implanon another shot. BC gets better all the time.
